One of the things I like about cold weather

PHPaulOne of the things I like about cold weather
Is sleeping in a cold (60° -ish) bedroom under a pile of blankets.
Always sleep better that way. Probably from sleeping in an essentially unheated upstairs bedroom in a Michigan farm house as a kid. I could literally scrape the frost off the
inside of the single-glazed windows.
I think the weight of the blankets is a factor too.
Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

92fstechAbsolutely. The quality of my sleep has improved drastically in the past several weeks. I love being able to crawl under a big pile of blankets and not get too hot.

EdmondIt's probably the only thing I like about cold weather.
Nothing like some peaceful sleep with a beanie cap on. But then again, 60 to us Floridians is cold

I dunno about "long" but there are a couple of other things:
1. No bugs
2. Fewer tourists so less traffic
3. No humidity

I definitely miss this, best way to sleep. I also miss waking up to a pristine blanket of new snow, completely undisturbed and peaceful.

Y'know, they have these newfangled gadgets now called "programmable thermostats", that you can set to kick the furnace on just before it's time to drag yourself out from under the covers.
I too sleep a lot better in cooler weather.

HRKWhat is this cold weather you speak of....
We're still in the grasp of 80's but down to 60's at night, can't open up doors because of all the Oak pollen, it's nut dropping season and the Oaks are really showing their nuts....
We need a really good rain storm or two then it will be nice. But yeah having to actually use a blanket is nice!

sigarmsp226No grass to cut.
No grass/weeds to cut with weed eater.
Clear beautiful skies, especially at night.
The smell of a distant wood fire from someone’s fireplace.
No outside A/C compressor running almost non-stop.
Did I say no grass to cut (we have 3 acre as to manage).

drill sgtOutside on the ground... Make a mattress of spruce boughs.. lay open poncho out.. place a Down filled US Army mountain bag inside of a down filled Arctic bag inside a heavy sleeping bag sock... personally strip to underwear placing removed clothes inside bottom of sleeping bag..... climb into bag zipping closed as you fold excess poncho back over top of sleeping bag to form like a cacoon(?).... Outside temps of -45*F and colder... Making sure taking care of potty business prior to entry.... And quick to get dressed when exiting...... Was just as comfortable and warm as if I had been in my normal bed under proper bed covers.... Winter operations (1970"s) under Arctic weather conditions at Ft. Greely / Delta junction , Alaska..... A far cry from winter conditions that what we have down here in southern Louisiana when temps in the "teens" brings things here to a slow crawl.. And just the mention of possible snow dusting throws the public into utter panic.................... drill sgt.

So don't! Anything that needs doing now will still need doing when I get around to getting up...
