Lots of great suggestions already mentioned, however, always be prepared to answer this one: Why do you want this job? It is not always an easy question to answer, and you should think about it a good deal before the interview. I once had a situation similar to yours, almost identical. Didn't work out for me. Never discount someone coming out of the blue. Just be as prepared as possible and you should be fine.

Grab SKS, go innawoods |
I've interviewed recently for 3 engineering internships, and two recurring themes were conflict resolution and leadership. "Tell me about a conflict you had with a co-worker/supervisor and how you resolved it." "Are you comfortable leading groups of people? What makes you qualified?" "Tell me a time that you should've been more adamant that your idea be accepted over another." All very open ended obviously. I got offers from all three places. The conflict question is always the hardest for me, because I don't really get into arguments with coworkers; I'm professionally mature and don't take criticism personally, and work well with others. It sounds like you've already got the job, but best of luck anyways.

Whatever question you face, consider developing answers in this format...SOAR S -- situation -- enough info, but not a lot O -- obstacles -- your observations and assessment A -- actions -- what you specifically did R -- results -- what happened as a result of your actions I find that people often in some fear and trepidation fail to actually answer in a way I can follow. If you practice SOAR with some of the excellent questions you have in this thread, you can come across as calm, cool, and collected. ------- Trying to simplify my life...

"What did you do to prepare for this interview?"

Facts are stubborn things |
Thank you everyone. The interview went very well today. At the end, the hiring manager told me to expect a call from HR this week to set up the next interview. Only 3 candidates move on to the next step. It is a 5 step process...Next step is interviews with business partner leadership. It is going to take a month before all the steps are done and a decision is made... I love corporate America. Do, Or do not. There is no try.

It's not easy being me |
Yet, I know this is a facetious comment. Many years ago, at our 20th?? high school reunion, some classmates were yammering on about life in corporate America. A good friend of mine, that I've known since first grade, looks at me and says "But not us, Al, we'll never get sucked in the corporate world!!" Bob and I have been "small" business owners since the late 1980's. _______________________________________ Flammable, Inflammable, or Nonflammable....... Hell, either it Flams or it doesn't!!
