I'm seeing a Brother color printer that uses toner like a laser, but uses LED's to fuse the toner to the paper. WAY cheaper at under $200 and generally decent reviews with the usual kvetchers. Anybody actually got one? Brother or other name but LED tech? Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

OKI was the first to utilize this technology and has been around for years. Works perfectly well, nothing to be afraid of.

We've had other threads on this, Brother brand was overwhelmingly recommended. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

Not surprised. I have a Brother monochrome that has been faultless. Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

I recall the early LED/toner printers were not as sharp as the laser/toner printers, but that the newer models are on par for quality of prints. Do you have a link to the model you are looking at? I haven't seen a sub $200 4-color yet and might be interested in it myself. I shall respect you until you open your mouth, from that point on, you must earn it yourself.

Thank you. I looked up the toner units, and not as cheap as the one for my laser, but not as bad as the HP color toner either. I might just go this route, or splurge the extra $50 for the duplex model. It wouldn't replace the MFC as the daily use, but it would be nice to add a color option back to the office.
