Joe Biden on the campaign trail: "If you like your health care plan, ..." // biden is out !
The Biden family is completely void of character and morals.
Anyone who believes that any father would have done the same for their children is the same.

The only scenario in which I would have done that for my kid is if I knew for a fact that the charges were illegitimate, which we all know is not the case here. Allowing your kid to be immune from the consequences of their actions is what leads to these problems in the first place.
I have a friend who has called the cops multiple times on his drug dealing, junkie son, because he knows that without the legal intervention and incarceration his son is going to end up dead from an OD. That's probably going to end up being what happens to Hunter, too, if he's released to his own devices.
Even if Joe did do this out of compassion for his son, he's still a corrupt, lying, immoral bastard. But I'm pretty confident that this has a lot more to do with covering his own ass than love for Hunter.

If there's any ongoing investigation that's worthwhile, the DOJ just has to wait and watch until after Biden's out of office. Hunter will break another law in the near future; it's what he does. He's a crook, and a dumb crook, and he'll drag others down with him when he goes.
Curious question - will he lose his cushy no-show jobs in the Ukraine when the money from Uncle Sugar dries up?

Oh yeah, I fully expect that criminal to get pardoned for "crimes may have been committed" in regards to his bribes from China. One example:

Yeah, we're not talking about a slap on the wrist for shoplifting or tearing up a few parking tickets here. If it were, I might agree with a "who cares". This is, rather, another attempt to cover up massive corruption. Every American should be outraged.

It will be like Oprah. You get a Pardon" and "You get a pardon" and ......
Only surprised he waited this long. Ho could have stroked out and left Hunter and the rest of the Fam holding the bag

Can't the DOJ recoup any ill gotten monies?
Are the monies also protect under this?

As any father would do. If this shocks or outrages anyone, you're a silly person.
I am not overly surprised, but a little, since Biden promised not to do it.
I am certainly outraged. Because it is wrong, and broke a promise.
Not to say I don't feel the instinct of a father, but that doesn't excuse or explain it.

I can see the father hiring the best lawyer possible to prevent a conviction and then, if needed, prevent any jail time.
I can see the father pulling in a favor or three by appealing to a governor or the POTUS (or the next POTUS in this case) for a pardon or commutation.
I can kind of see where the POTUS might pardon his/her kid for a single crime (or two) which the kid was convicted.
What I cannot see or understand is to make it a blanket pardon going back 10 years unless the father KNOWS there are MANY more crimes which the son is guilty of and could be soundly prosecuted for.
My guess though, Dementia Joe will give the same type pardon to his brother, then to his wife and other relations who also knew they were receiving tainted monies.

Don't like it but what did he have to lose? His legacy and reputation is already shot and he was thrown under the bus by his own party. Giving a one-finger salute on his way out isn't a bad way to go.

I can see discovery unraveling the entire Biden family sweater. In his case, better to go down as a liar than lose everything he owns and put family members, beyond Hunter, in jail, and likely be convicted himself.

I strongly disapprove of Hunter's pardons, but ... a blanket pardon makes sense in preventing fishing expeditions or further legal harassment. Again, it is wrong in this case that Joe pardoned Hunter, but when a pardon is given it should be done in a way to put the matter to bed.
e.g. Trump could "Pardon every person who was in DC on Jan 6, 2021 for any crime, even those not yet charged".

Now, that Hunter is pardoned and can't be prosecuted for any crimes he may or may not have committed, he has no standing to plead the fifth to any questions.
From WSJ - a Two Edged Sword:
“ The Journal reporters note:
The president’s pardon of Hunter was particularly broad, covering offenses “which he has committed or may have committed or taken part in” dating back to the beginning of 2014. That year, the younger Biden joined the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian gas company that has figured prominently in investigations of his past business dealings. David Friedman, former Trump ambassador to Israel and an attorney, writes on X:
I’m not sure that Joe Biden has fully considered the ramifications of his pardon of Hunter. The pardon is extremely broad and covers activities while Joe was vice president. This means that Hunter cannot plead the Fifth if asked about his business dealings with Ukraine and China, including his Dad’s involvement, because, with his pardon, he has no risk of criminal jeopardy.”

I've heard this a few times today, including a few pages back. If and hopefully when, he is subpoenaed he must answer questions under oath. Not answering truthfully is a new crime (his pardon covers up to 12/1/24) which is then punishable.

There is no way White House counsel didn't counsel Biden on this possibility. None at all. They did not overlook this possibility.

I will observe, Hunter can still be prosecuted under state law for both gun and tax evasion charges. Not that it will happen.
