'There's a new sheriff in town': Biden says government has ignored US-made products for too long in 'Made in America' speech - then confuses Obama and Trump in 'Freudian slip'
President Joe Biden vowed on Wednesday to increase accountability for federal agencies to buy products that have a 60 per cent or higher threshold of components made in America, insisting there's 'a new sheriff in town.'
Biden said that the hit on 'Buying American' at the federal level is hitting U.S. companies is a 'double whammy' because '55 per cent is not high enough and second, contractors don't have to tell us the total domestic content of their products, they just have to tell us they hit the threshold. And nobody's checking.'
'Well they've got a new sheriff in town,'the president said Wednesday following a tour of Mack Trucks manufacturing facility in Macungie, Pennsylvania. 'We're going to be checking.'
'Oh I'm serious,' he added. 'I'm deadly earnest.'
The president finished the event with a 'Freudian slip' where he said he was vice president under President Donald Trump in 2009.
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin called out anti-Asian American discrimination in the United States during a trip to East Asia this week to reassure allies and partners.
“Our partnerships draw strength from our shared belief in greater openness, and our belief that people live best when they govern themselves. Now, our democratic values aren’t always easy to reach. And the United States doesn’t always get it right,” he said.
“We’ve seen some painful lapses, like the unacceptable and frankly un-American discrimination that some Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have endured in my country in recent months,” he said.
The Biden administration has made diversity a key focus at the Pentagon. Austin is the first African American secretary defense, and the first defense secretary to hire a senior adviser on human capital and diversity, equity, and inclusion issues.
Reports of anti-Asian hate crimes have risen 149% in the U.S.’s 16 largest cities over the past year, according to the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at California State University San Bernardino. The biggest increase has happened in Democrat-run and dominated New York City, Los Angeles, and Boston. Democrats and establishment media, however, have attributed the rise in anti-Asian hate crimes to President Donald Trump, citing his blaming of China for the coronavirus.
Austin argued that calling attention to the discrimination was a virtue.

maybe Austin should have played a few of the videos we have all seen of who is attacking Asian Americans

Now Joe claims to have driven an 18 wheeler. Must be that summer job when he was playing for the Washington Redskins.
Forty-eight-year political veteran President Biden raised eyebrows on Wednesday when he claimed to have driven an 18-wheeler truck — a claim the White House struggled to defend.
Biden was visiting a Mack Truck facility in Pennsylvania when he made the claim to have driven the massive trucks before, which require a special kind of license.
"I used to drive an 18-wheeler, man," Biden said on Wednesday in a video posted to Twitter. "I got to." There is scant evidence that Biden has ever driven an 18-wheeler truck.
When asked if the president had ever driven such a truck, a White House spokesperson pointed to a December 1973 article from the Wilmington Evening Journal that showed Biden rode in an 18-wheeler on a 536-mile haul to Ohio.
Fox News pressed the spokesperson about the president’s claim – noting that riding in a truck is not the same as driving one – at which point the president's spokesperson pointed to a United Federation of Teachers post that touched on Biden driving a school bus in the past as a summer job.

The majority of school buses, on average, "have two axles, with the bigger models having two wheels on the front axle and four wheels on the dual axle, for a total of six wheels," according to SchoolBusFleet.com.
Fox News pressed again about the president’s claim, pointing out that a school bus is not the same as an 18-wheeler truck, but did not receive a response by publishing time.
Mack trucks is owned by Volvo. Volvo is trying to buy itself back from Geely Automobile Holding Limited a limited liability corp (Chinese).

Sheriff Deadly Earnest. Damn. Where's William W. Johnstone when a 'president' needs a new speechwriter and all he's got is Seth Macfarlane's opening line for "A Million Ways To Die In The West II"?

Regarding driving the 18-wheeler, a good one from Twitter:
