captain127Another of the Greatest Generation passed.
So very few of them remain. My VFW post just lost our last 2 this year. I remember fondly visiting Pearl Harbor in 2005 and appreciating meeting survivors and hearing them speak of that fateful day. Many youngsters would benefit from meeting with them before it is too late.
Older generations are a bridge to the past. A now deceased WWII vet I knew told of the times he was delivering the Saturday evening post as a boy in the 1930’s, and talking to civil war veterans at the time.
A good friend of mine remembers in the early 60’s of visiting Spanish American and WWI vets at a veterans home
