She had a 2006 and a 2015 gas engine Rav 4's and liked the new body style so she asked if I'd mind if she got a new one. I had read there were some people unhappy with the new transmission in the 2019's and the hybrid was only $800 more than the ICE model. Knowing nothing about hybrids I was initially worried about reliability but then realized the Prius has been around a good long time now with seemingly little trouble.

Two weeks in and she let me drive it twice so far, she loves it and I think if I didn't need a truck bed now and then I'd probably get one for myself. Very roomy and comfortable and that's coming from a guy that drives a Crewmax Tundra. The hybrid workings amaze me. Still on the first tank but the computer is showing 41mpg average. Try as I might I can't feel the ICE kick in and while driving I can't feel of hear it go in and out which it supposedly does. We got the Limited model so it's got plenty of bells and whistles including an app. The app includes a remote starter along with a ton of info about the current status of the vehicle. Free for 6 months and then $80 annually I think.

I just read that the hybrid Rav4 is currently the best selling hybrid in the country and is accounting for 25% of Rav 4 sales.[URL= ]

In general, Toyota/Lexus make the most durable cars/trucks you can buy. Smart purchase.

Range reports with no pics are uncouth.

The hybrids are for sure a hit. Getting great mileage as you’ve discovered. I work at a big Toyota dealership. The 19 Rav being all new was slow to take off at first but sales are starting to pick up. They are solid rigs. Boring to me but SUVs aren’t my cup of tea. They do drive nice...

The new RAV4 is actually good-looking IMO, unlike the last two generations. If my wife ever decides she doesn’t need a minivan (Odyssey), she might like one of these, but we would also look at the Mazda CX-5, the Subaru Outback and Forester, and Honda Pilot/Passport. We did not like the CR-V.

I drove an XLE edition non-hybrid and really liked it. Would have liked to drive the hybrid but they weren't available yet. How's acceleration? I've read the hybrid is substantially quicker than the non-hybrid.

Oh, and please tell me Toyota has finally pulled their head out of their *** and added Apple Carplay 'and' Android Auto to the infotainment system. I still can't believe in 2019 the long list of Toyota's that still don't have both options available when Kia and Hyundai are turning out $15-$17k base model econoboxes that include both as a standard feature.

Oh, and plus whatever on posting pics. Come on, don't tease. Smile

I believe the new RAV4 supports CarPlay but not Android Auto.

I believe you are right. We looked at these as well as we shopped for a new SUV. We ended up with a Honda Passport as it had a larger cargo area and was very quiet on the road. the RAV4 was a strong contender however. Good luck with the new ride.

Pic added. It does have Carplay but I don't know about Android Auto. Carplay was mandatory for her and the head unit most likely can't be changed. It's high in the center of the dash so it makes me want to close it or fold it in but she told me the screen is glare free. Her old one, the same as my Tundra completely wash out when the sun hits it right but the placement of the new Rav took care of the sun.

RAV4's are great cars. We replaced all of our Expeditions with RAV4's at my part time job thank God and are much happier. Peppier, roomy, very comfortable. I like it so much I may buy my wife one.

My wife bought a 2018 last April. She's just at 15,000 miles. I haven't driven it, its her car. She likes it. Mileage is less that I'd hoped for with a hybrid, usually right at 34 mpg.

I am strongly considering a 2020 Rav4 Hybrid to replace my 2006 Corolla.

My wife has a 2016 Rav4 (non-hybrid) and I like everything about it except the seats.

Hoping they have Android Auto on the 2020....

Interesting. I might be looking to replace my 2003 Honda Civic this year. I've had 4 Toyota vehicles previously and wife has a Highlander (not hybrid) so we are very familiar with the Toyota line.

Just bought my first Toyota, a Highlander. Not a hybrid but really like it. Averages 25.5 mpg. And its big! I'm still wary of the resale value of hybrids. I'd be very unlikely to buy a lets say 5 year old hybrid with 100,000 miles on it. Battery replacement is SUPER costly. Repairs would be limited to what techs you have in your location. May be I'm just too old to change but I'll have to stick with what I know works. But good luck with yours!
