kx90Blackstone griddle question
Needed to replace the old grill, was about go Weber Genesis when my dad, who has a Weber Genesis, said to look at the Blackstones.
After doing some research it seems most people are now going with a griddle and a BGE or some type of smoker. So I went with a 36" Blackstone.
As I was wrapping up the initially seasoning of the griddle plate I realized that I did not wash it before seasoning. Did a wipe down with some paper towels with the intent to wash after that but got distracted and went straight to seasoning.
I cooked some chicken sausages and chicken patties on there and they were sticking a bit.
My question is: Should I wash the griddle plate with Dawn and water and re-season?
When I seasoned it I did follow the instructions per the video they give you a link to. Basically turn burners on high, let heat for 15 or so minutes and wait until it stops smoking. Then apply a thin layer of oil (I used canola) let it burn off and repeat.

lastmanstandingCook a couple pounds of bacon. Then just scrape the big chunks off with the bench scraper and toss in the garbage. Then turn the burners on medium high and let it heat up. Then squirt with water to steam off the leftover food bits. Keep scraping the water around. It will evaporate down to a small amount that is brownish black in color. Wipe that up with a paper towel. Repeat until the water left is almost clear. Let it dry throughly and then shut off the burners. Put on a small amount of oil and wipe. Do this after every use.

lastmanstandingUm just to clarify you only need to cook the couple pounds of bacon once to establish a seasoning. But hey I cook bacon on my griddle probably three times a week!

BassamaticI have the 36" Blackstone as well. They are pretty adamant about the procedure for seasoning. Shoot, if it were me I would just scrub her all down with Dawn and start over.
It really is no big deal as these things should really be scrubbed and re-seasoned each year. Plus, it's not like my old Lodge skillet, this is sitting outside with who knows what crawling around in there. I mean, you can do the whole thing in about 20-30 minutes.
