Bell Collins new scout/attack helicopter
Range seems short to me too. And what is the MANPAD threat to helicopters these days? Do you really want to charge off to battle in one?

Dumb thing is they decided to scrap the kiowas before they even had a replacement. They envisioned a mix of blackhawks and apaches replacing the kiowas but it did not work out that way. I always felt a bit happier going on a raid in Iraq When I saw a Kiowa scouting ahead of our vehicle column

Be it Afghanistan or Iraq, our pilots got down in the enemy's face and gave 'em everything they had, then hustled back to rearm and go out to do it again.
