The water drain tube (which takes care of the humidity issues presented) can be placed at a level higher than the dryer. Ours is strapped to the washer’s drain tube, which is about 6 inches higher up on the wall than both units. An interesting option is that there is a condensate tank on the unit, which can be used if you don’t have a place for the water to drain. If you choose this route, the dryer will re-use this water during the steam-dry cycle.

ETA: I guess if it took too much more in terms of amps than a standard unit, then standard residential wiring couln't be used, so that's a limit. On the other hand, maybe it has to run longer to get stuff dry....

They run on a 15A 120V outlet, and use about 1KW. Super cheap to run. Drying times are variable, but a load of towels takes about an hour to dry during the Monsoon, and probably 45 minutes in the dead of winter. The best thing about these dryers is that they are so gentle, it is nearly impossible to ruin clothes.
