98XJRCTankless hotwater heater ?
Has anyone used these in electric form only? I’m looking into it and considering it, however the amps needed is insane. Do they really save anything electricity wise from an existing energy efficient standard model.

PASig$10,000 for just the tankless gas water heater?
IMO, you need to get a couple more estimates, this guy is trying to hose you, hard.
I had a NG Bosch boiler/tankless water heater Combi unit installed at my previous house in 2014 and the whole thing was like $8500 and that involved the HVAC guy having to run all the gas piping into the house from a newly installed gas meter, removing old boiler, all kinds of piping etc.
My WAG says this should cost you MAYBE $4,000 total

Also, if going gas make sure it has the ability to work if the power goes out.
Tankless, that'd be a negative.

As another heads up for folks considering this, make damn sure your gas water heater replacement isn't going to be in a location where it requires a vent fan. If so, make sure you have access to generator or other backup power there or you will still be taking cold showers during the ice storm!

I paid $1289.00 for the unit and a couple hundred for the misc plumbing and venting I needed. Install for me was pretty involved because of placement but wasn't a big deal. The space savings and improved appearance in the utility room was a huge bonus for me too. 10k sounds on the high side but hard to say not knowing what you'll have involved in getting gas line to the unit.
I am replacing our electric one in the next year with one of those new fangled ones...
...our heating element went out awhile back and the water heater man said that when this old one plays out the new replacement one would be too tall for our existing plumbing.
Bump that!
