All the bars in the French quarter are closed.

It's been pretty cold today, below thirty degrees this morning.

We finished off a Haydels King cake last week, now it's time to got to the supermarket for sales on leftover and quite possibly stale king cakes.

For the first time ever(to my knowledge) Blue Belle Ice Cream made Mardi Gras King Cake ice cream. Even had the correct colors. I bought some, and it did taste like King cake with ice cream!!!

Sadly I never made it to NO for the celebrations. And places I've lived, including now, have little in the way of traditional Cajun foods.

That said we have some shrimp on hand and I'm having some andouille sausage and a box of Zatarain's red beans & rice mix picked up. 'Bout as close as we can come in these parts. Big Grin
