Being bald with a full beard, I simply tell those who may ask that my hair migrated south. Big Grin Big Grin

I started losing my hair in my late 20s and going gray sometime after that. From numerous complements from women evidently I did have nice hair but what I miss most is the protection. Getting a sunburned scalp is something that will never happen more than once. Excruciating headache. Hair also offers more padding than one might think. What is a minor bump for someone else will flay my skin right open. Lastly it helps keep the sweat out of the eyes.

I think I was a bit self-conscious back then but I refused to hide it. I never sported a combover or hairpiece. Nor did I wear a hat 24/7. I remember seeing guys that had a two-tone scalp and the pasty white flesh wasn't a look I wanted. Kept my head slightly tan and a hat to keep from getting sunburned.

I was 17 and getting that first haircut in basic training. The barber did that wonderful 30 second run with the clippers.

Yeah kind of never came back after that.

Really noticed that my hairline was running away from my face at about 45. I didn't really care for several more years until I figured out that I was starting to get shiny on top. Went to Petco, bought an Andis clipper with detachable blades, and it's been VERY close cropped, but not smooth for at least 15 years.

I also have a small collection of nice panama hats.
