beltfed21Well Damn, back in Hospital.......
Open heart surgery Saturday during the day, went home Monday, doing well no issue. Late toady my leg they took a vein out of starts swelling a bunch.
Called Doc and was told to go to ER. Got there and the found a blood clot in the leg. So I get to stay the night at least to let the blood thinners do they’re thing. This just sucks! I’ve been a Jody boy with doing walking around the house, breathing machine, the works. Oh well, it could have been worse.

CensoredGlad you got the clot treated before anything migrated to the lungs. Be ready for a 6 month course of bruising and bleeding easy.

pwelch001Happy your doing better!

dwright1951Expect to be on a blood thinner for a while, you will bruise real easy, remember a little bit of blood in saliva looks like a bunch. Good luck.

45_AutoBeen there back in September, I had OHS on Thursday and home on Tuesday, you were in for a very short time.
The leg where the vein is removed will be bruised and quite painful for a while, blood thinners will resolve the clotting issue.
If you want to discuss the surgery and what to expect, don't hesitate to contact me, my e-mail is in my profile.
Hope you get better soon, it does take a while to get back to 100%. Take it slow and do what the Doctors say, it's important for a proper recovery. Remember, they cracked you open like a walnut, and the breast bone needs to fuse together properly.

mrapteam666I am glad they caught it before anything else could have transpired.
I am glad you observed something was wrong and did something about it.
Been on way to many calls lately that individuals did not listen to their body, or go get things looked at right after they had surgery.

Spiff_P239Best of luck with the recovery, sir. Hope you mend quickly and fully.

GWbikerAfter I had open heat surgery, Doctor told me to not drive a car for several weeks. He claimed that if air bag goes off, it might crack me open.
Also, expect to be on a blood thinner for quite some time. (Plavix)

beltfed21Hello all, first thank you for all the kind words and offers,
Now for the update. Back home again. After the OHS on the 17th, I was a little surprised the Doctor dinn’t prescribe a stronger blood thinner. I was already on Plavex, but that is only something to keep platelets from sticking together. So now I have Eliquis as well. Now I’ll have to watch for blending.
I in fact did have a blood clot in my right leg, where they took the vain from. Thus the true blood thinner. What I didn’t mention about this second trip was that I’d had a deathly allergic to Sulfa drugs for 20 years, and the diuretic that the doctor prescribed for me was part of that family of drugs.... ugh! I tried 2 days worth then stopped on my own.
So in addition to the clot I was fighting my skin was turning in to a red, itchy, burning mass! They helped that with IV steroids and Benadryl. Doctors seem to refuse to believe that my warnings about my body and Sulfates are real.
Enough whining. I have to say that my wife is an angel for helping me through all this! She’s warn out tonight!
Thanks again for the support!
