Tell me about your Sonos set up? Any must-haves? I have a Play:1 in my kitchen that I mounted under the cabinet, in the corner. So far I'm liking the ease of use, and I just discovered I can play back to it directly from my NAS. Pretty neat. Anyone have a Play:5 (New version) or a Sub? PlayBar? I have the soundbase and it is working well. Use it for tv viewing and now I no longer need a complete stereo system in the living room. Over all it is nice. No issues

I have a Play:5 and like the deeper sound from it. It located between the kitchen and dining and fills both rooms nicely. I also like the audio input. My only gripe is it’s not AirPlay. So based on what content you have you may need to tweek your setup. Hoping that a future software upgrade takes care of that. Future: my friend has the beta that allows Alexa to send audio streams to it. So that will come soon. A few Sigs and some others

We have two Sonos 1s, kitchen and master bedroom. We are able to take the speaker from our bedroom out onto our back patio. We also have a Playbar downstairs in the family room attached to our main TV. The playbar is almost essential. The improvement in sound from the television is remarkable. Really like it. The Sonos 1s upstairs are good, not great. Certainly convenient, especially for playing iTunes from phones or iPad. I like Pandora a lot. It has been my primary source for discovering new music. When I plug my iPad direct into a receiver to play Pandora, I can see all the songs that have been played. I can see bios of the artists or groups played. When I Pandora through Sonos, I don't get those features--the ability to see the artists and songs I might have been too busy to look at while they're playing. That's a disadvantage. I like it OK for casually playing some music and great to enhance TV sound. It's not perfect for me, but it's a good product. _______________________________________________________ despite them

We have a Play 3 in the kitchen. I really like the interface and the reliability of it. It just works. I've been using wireless speakers in the home for a long time, since before it was easy with this purpose built solutions. Compared to everything else I've used ovdrbthe last 15 years thisvjust works great. What I don't like: - the actual sound isn't great. It's not bad, but I used to be a serious speaker snob. I've lost MUCH of my ability to be super discerning when it comes to audio reproduction so it's not a huge deal, but I notice it. That being said, it's much better than the competitors I've auditioned. The other thing I don't like is the lack of a way stream directly to it from my device. For instance, if I bring up a YouTube video on my phone I'd like to be able to route the audio through the Sonos. I'm not aware of that functionality Overall, I am happy with it, but it's a little expensive.

Absolutely love Sonos. I have a Playbar and sub in the den. Once I got it two or three years ago, I sold ALL my old stereo gear... and I had some pretty nice stuff. Sound quality is terrific. I have a play 1 in my office and a play 3 in our bedroom. It always works as it should and on the one or two times tech support was needed, they had things straightened out quickly. Probably on a trip |
I've got a Play 3 that we used to have in the kitchen/breakfast area but I have since moved it to permanent outdoor patio duty. It works great - music for when we are entertaining and podcasts for when I am smoking a stogie or swimming. Love it. Added a Play:5 (2nd gen) today. Wow. For what it is, it sounds fantastic. “The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it.”—H.L. Mencken

Father in law has the play bar, sub, and 4 5's as the rear surrounds and it is sweet. Once my Pioneer Reciever goes I'll make the switch as well. Such a great sound and simple setup. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. I have a pair of Play 3s in the kitchen set up as a stereo pair, a Connect Amp in my Study hooked up to my SA floor standing speakers. I have a Play 7 soundbar and a Sub in the living room hooked up to the TV and a single Play 1 on my bedside table. I stream music from Quobuz which offers 16 bit (CD quality) streaming (and also 24 bit that I haven't signed up to yet) and radio from Tunein. Sonos is the best especially if you set up a stereo pair. .................................................. My daughter has a stereo pair of 1s in her room. They sound pretty good. We also have a Connect plugged in to the main stereo that runs all the built-in speakers in the house. We use it all the time.

There is always a trade-off between sound quality and convenience. The Sonos speakers and network provide excellent sound for the convenience of flexible placement, wireless, control via computer and smartphone. We have 1's, 3's, 5's, the Soundbar, Subwoofer and input to our home theater system. Sonos is behind on voice control integration. We sometimes find ourselves listening to our Amazon Echo (lower sound quality) because you don't have to pull out your phone and go through menus to start the music or audio. Like any digital technology, things are changing rapidly. Sonos has announced voice integration options with Amazon Echo / Alexa, which have been coming for the last year. Sonos still appears to be the best sound right now, but Apple, Amazon, Google and Samsung are all moving in this space. I haven't given up on Sonos. The sound is great, each speaker can have different input set, etc. Sonos sees how critical integration with voice control and other automation options is, and I have high hopes for the upcoming new features. We'll just see how much Amazon and Google want to work with Sonos and how much they want to proceed on their own.
