After opening a can of Spam I slice off a piece for immediate use, then put the rest into a general purpose storage box and refrigerate it for later use.

It occurred to me that storage boxes just for that purpose might be found on Amazon. I didn’t find any, but I I did find this odd thing:

GABO Non Stick Spam Musubi Maker, Press Mold:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L..._encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I’d never heard of Spam Musubi, but found this on the web:

“Spam musubi is a popular snack and lunch food composed of a slice of grilled Spam sandwiched either in between or on top of a block of rice, wrapped together with nori in the tradition of Japanese omusubi…”

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spam_musubi

Interesting, but I like my Spam in sandwiches.

Grilled Spam sammiches are the best!

Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed.
Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists.
Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

A guy I worked with grew up in Hawaii. Spam Musubi was one of his favorite things in life.

Spam musubi was mentioned a bit in the Hawaii Spam black market thread a couple of years ago:
https://sigforum.com/eve/forums...935/m/3040099134/p/1

We have a musubi press and make Spam and teriyaki chicken musubi from time to time.

Me, too. I cut the half-sized can contents into 9 slices (while in the can) and fry them. Makes 3 sandwiches--on toast with yellow mustard. Yummmm!

So it's basically a rice press the size of a slice of spam.

It's a big ass spam nigiri.

Cooked spam is best, I hate the pieces with limp ass spam. Though the flavor is good (usually teryaki) I prefer crispy spam.

Any variation of Spam, rice and egg usually hits pretty good. Especially after a night of drinking. Throw in a fried Hasbrouck and you have the ultimate bowl.

In Hawaiian chain restaurants, they offer that. I'm not a fan of it. I like to eat spam and I like to eat rice. But I don't like to eat spam surrounded by rice wrapped in seaweed.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

In Japan, a common lunchbox item is a rice ball, or musubi. It is wrapped with seaweed strips (nori) to cover the stickiness and make them a finger food.

Spam musubi is a Hawaii variation, combining the local love of japanese food and spam.

Trivia, Japanese musubi is triangular, as the word for four and death are similar and thus four is bad luck. It always kinda bothered me growing up that spam musubi came in a four sided block.

Ah, so. That explains this Amazon offering:

If you really want to kick up some Spam, smoke it on a bbq pit. Score it with a knife, rub it with a little mustard and your favorite bbq rub and smoke it for 1 or 2 hours, then slice and sear in a pan. Makes an awesome Spam sandwich.

If you don't score the block of Spam with will inflate like a football.
