Ok, who left their ammo laying around? You guys really need to learn to pick up your toys.

Fox News - Swiss town may have to evacuate for for more than a decade over WWII ammunition cache

...Around 3,500 tons of ammunition remain inside a former armory in Mitholz. Some of the material already exploded in 1947, killing nine people and damaging properties. But most of what’s left of the arsenal is now reportedly covered by fallen rocks....

I am drooling at the thought of more 7.5x55 government ammo possibly coming into the country.

FTA: Switzerland’s defense ministry says clean-up is expected to begin in 2031 following “extensive preparations,” but if any evacuation were to "pose insurmountable problems,” a rock mass could be placed on top of the armory instead to minimize risk...

A "rock mass" on top of explosives in case they explode. Why am I picturing Wiley Coyote here?

I’m betting there is at least a box of unfired Luger’s buried in there.

Now THAT's how to clean it up pronto. Put up a couple "Close-out sale" signs and start a website.

No reason to hurry, I guess.

Lots of different kinds of "ammo". The link didn't suggest anything about the caliber if its just "ammo". If that happened here in America I could see it as a vacation destination. Sigforum would be awash in happy people.

It´s heavy ordnance. No small arms ammo. Small arms ammo was/is not stored in caverns.

I'm guessing that using it to shell Brussels, is out of the question?

10 years, damn! If I were a resident I say rip the band-aid off and blow in place. Clean up would take far less time.

Austria, Sweden and Netherlands may not think that such a bad idea right about now: EU in TURMOIL as study reveals these FOUR countries will pay HUGE price for Brexit

Because Switzerland is waiting for input from Fenris of the Internent on how to handle rotten artiller shells.
