Looking at Indochina currently. Has anyone had experience with a suit made by Indochina? Quality? Fit?

Are there any other sources I should be considering for my internet tailor?

Thanks!

Why Indochina? I would look to the British bespoke suits first.

I haven't bought one yet but a few months ago I got fitted at Indochino at one of their Chicago stores. Felt their fabrics and looked at the colors. They felt and looked good. They're like PSA, though. If you sign up for their e-mail list, you'll get 1-2 e-mails a day about their "sales" that are just about always $330-370 a suit.

If you're by Mall of America, they have one there where they will measure you:

I don't need another suit until next spring so I'm holding out for a few more months.

Thailand - Phuket to be specific.

My grandfather was a tailor from the old country. He worked in downtown Chicago making custom suits for whoever could afford them. Tailor made suits were popular then. He made a good living during the Depression to take care of his family.

Despite what you may think ordering from overseas or online is not a custom made suit. Many exact measurements must be taken. Additionally many men do not look good in certain types of suits.

I used Indochino for a suit a couple years back. Followed their instructions and was very specific on measurements (several, several measurements), sent them all in, and got back probably the best fitting suit I've ever worn.

I like them, and will use them again, and their prices cannot be beaten for the quality.

There's a local 3rd generation tailor in our town. If you'd consider that avenue, email me and I'll get you his contact. I've head nothing but great stories. Makes suits for a few of the Steelers including James Harrison (ex-Steeler now I guess).

Though not inexpensive, I have used Tom James for my custom suits and shirts for the last 10 years. I wear a suit everyday and have 20 or so that I am actively wearing at any one time. I buy two pants for each suit to get me longer life as pants tend to wear out first. They have some very expensive suits of which I have a couple, but the bulk of what I wear is $1500 or so. Nice suit, nice fit, they come to you to be measured and deliver the suit back to you. Easy.

have you checked Nordstrom ?

do you have a physical abnormality that requires
the entire suit be custom?

do you require a specific pattern or cloth that no one offers?

Not really. Classic black suit. But it is for my daughter's wedding. I want it to be "special" AND look terrific! Cool

Many years ago, my at-the-time girl friend gave me a birthday present -- she took me to Brooks Brothers for a made-to-order suit. We started by choosing the material, and went from there.

I had that suit for many years, wore it a lot. Best suit I ever owned.

they ( Nordstrom) have the ability to get that done

Back when I was buying suits , they did right by me many times

comfort is every bit as important as appearance ,
yes there are such suits that are both great looking and comfortable.

you should not have to feel like you are strapped in , to look good..

they've been doing it for over 75 years ,

Indochino is cut more modern than you might like. Think slimmer fitting, skinnier lapels, etc. If you aren't built like the customer they target things might look off. Just a word of warning.

Suit supply is another option.

If you go custom make sure you educate yourself on exactly what you want.

You might not need full custom. Something that fits close off the rack with a great tailor for final alterations can get you where you want to be. Finding a great tailor can be difficult but take yelp for whatever it's worth, ask the best local mens store or department where they send their stuff, and talk to the tailor about what they think and what you want.

With my new job I am buying a bunch of suits. Indochina comes highly rated and recommended.

I wound up buying several from mens warehouse and a local tailor is adjusting them.

Hong Kong, but you really need to go there for the fitting. The work and the price is excellent.
