Don’t know anything about it, but this is what Grok says,

quote:
The song you’re likely referring to is “Stay” by Shakespeare’s Sister, a female pop duo consisting of Siobhan Fahey and Marcella Detroit. Released in 1992, the song was a major hit, reaching number one in the UK and charting globally. The lyrics include the line, “Under the stars, under the moon”, which directly references both celestial bodies. This fits your criteria of a late ’80s to early ’90s female pop duo with a song mentioning the moon and stars.

Is a great song, was absolutely HUGE in Europe in late 1991 into 1992 right when I was getting stationed there but not sure if that is the song the OP means:

oh, you mean the song that was being sung by that girl you met wearing a yellow bikini 25 years ago?

I have no idea but it's obvious the girl made more of an impression on you than the song she was singing.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I feel like this is that old show “Name That Tune” where they give very little background on the song and then try to guess the song in a few notes (I think it was on the piano). It seems impossible with the limited info then one contestant says he will name it in three notes. They play those three notes and he comes up with the song……..

Essentially yes but the girl in the yellow bikini was singing a pop song that I had heard before but was a few years old at that point

Try this read to the bottom for all possibilities, especially #2

Finding Song Title and Lyrics from a Music Video (1988-1994):
1. Leverage Song Recognition Apps:
Shazam and SoundHound: These apps (available on various platforms) are designed to identify music playing around you. You can use them by holding your device near the audio source while the music video plays, and they will search their databases for a match. Shazam also has a browser extension for identifying music from browser tabs.
Musixmatch: This app can identify songs and provides a comprehensive lyric catalog.

2. Describe the Music Video:
Google Search: Use relevant keywords describing the video's elements and try to find the music video through Google Search. You can include:
The word "video" to narrow down the search results.
The year or era (e.g., "1990" or "80s").
Descriptors of the music: genre (e.g., "R&B"), "instrumental" if it has no lyrics.
The setting: hospital, beach, car, etc.
Themes: "breakup", "wedding", etc.
Physical descriptions of the performer(s): outfits, hairstyles, etc.
Reddit's r/tipofmytongue: This community can help you identify a song or video by describing it to other users.
YouTube Search: Search directly on YouTube for the music video, using the same descriptive keywords. You can also search for partial lyrics on YouTube.
IMVDB: This website lists music videos, which can be helpful if you know the artist but not the specific video.

3. Utilize Digital Assistants:
Siri or Google Assistant: If the music video is playing, you can ask your device's assistant (like Siri or Google Assistant) "What song is this?" to identify it. This only works with the original version of the song, not a cover.
4. Search for Lyrics:
Google Search: If you remember any lyrics, even just a few words, search for them on Google with the word "lyrics" included.
Lyrics Websites: Use websites like Genius, AZLyrics, and Lyrics.com to search for partial lyrics.
5. Consider Other Options:
Hum or Sing to an App: SoundHound and Midomi allow you to hum or sing the melody of a song to identify it.
Tap the Melody: Song Guesser can identify songs based on the melody or rhythm you tap.
Check Tunefind: If you've heard the song in a TV show, movie, or game, Tunefind can help you find it by searching for that media.
6. Check Your History:
YouTube History: If you watched the video on YouTube, check your viewing history.
7. Engage with Communities:
Reddit's r/NameThatSong: Describe the video on this Reddit community to get help identifying the song.
Identification of Music Group on Facebook: Another option for getting help from other users.
Quora: Ask a question on Quora, describing the music video and what you remember.
8. Check Artist Discographies:
Wikipedia and other platforms: If you have an idea of the artist, check their discography for releases during that time period.
9. Ask Friends and Family:
Social Media: Post about the video on social media to see if anyone recognizes it.
By using a combination of these methods, you have a good chance of finding the song name and lyrics of the music video from the 1988-1994 era that you're looking for
