No it won’t. If the inspired Word of God (I.e. the Bible) or the Holy Spirit has no effect on you, Mel Gibsons conception of the crucifixion will not sway you either. The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin, not Hollywood.

Careful, blasphemy is a pretty serious thing. If you are really curious email me and I’d be glad to talk it over with you.

You forgot the part where he ascended into heaven after so a bit more than the weekend.
But I also understand you are just trying to be cute.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown

I get it. My friends and I discussed that most every other language calls is Passover.

Passover is a Jewish holiday/festival. Easter is celebrating something that Jews do not celebrate.
Symbolically, Christians recognize the significance of Jesus Christ as the sacrificial lamb from the Passover but Jews do not.
So simply put, these are not the same holiday and they do not celebrate the same thing.

That’s … half right, I guess. The early Christian’s did celebrate the Passover and some of us still do. You are correct that the catholics don’t celebrate the same holiday.

As a Catholic I refer to people, often, when they bring up white bearded fat men, reindeer, bunnies, and all the bullshit marketing. I tell them to FF to Christ being whipped, beat, and tortured to death by the Romans. That’s the reality, not the fluff bs marketing.

A close friend of mine, who is very devout, told me this...
On Easter Sunday a priest decided to visit the kids at the Sunday school in his church. He asked the kids, “Who can tell me about the Resurrection?”. All of the kids looked around at each other, none had an answer.
The Father was a little puzzled and said, “None of you can tell me about the Resurrection?”.
One shy boy reluctantly raised his hand a little, then lowered it, and raised it slightly again. He was obviously nervous.
Father asked him, “Son, what can you tell me about the Resurrection?”
The boy sheepishly responded, “Well, I’m not really sure…but if it lasts for more than four hours you should call a doctor.”

Honestly, if he’s making light of the resurrection he is not devout and has no understanding of it. It may be a source of amusement for you but for some it’s the pinnacle of our faith. I hope one day you understand what I mean.

Except, of course, that the English language names of all seven of the days that were based on pagan deities (including the sun and the moon) don’t refer to a specific Christian holy day.
I’ll grant, though, that Resurrection Day would probably be a better term than Sunday.
