My county is like that, with a fat little pocket of blue in the middle, and surrounded by more red counties.

LeemurWe absolutely need all VA residents to join the VCDL! It’s only $25 a year and they have been huge in securing and expanding our 2nd rights.

My sister lives in Ocean County, New Jersey. It went about 70% for Trump. You know, just saying.
What's ironic is the county that I live in in Utah only went 35% for Trump.

Go figure.

esdunbarI could be wrong, but I've been saying for years that I don't think the next battle will take bullets. I think it will be a legal one...and I don't mean SCOTUS.
I see the US continuing its march towards socialism. We've tipped to where we have more people taking from the government that producing for it.
The producers will simply get fed up and leave. Some state will eventually leave the union. That's when a legal battle will start. The Civil War was fought over this very same thing. Today, I don't see a Civil War coming. I don't think folks have the stomach for it.
Look at what is happening with Marijuana. It's illegal on the federal level, but states are allowing it in defiance of the feds and the feds aren't doing a damn thing. When a state leaves and says we're done paying you and listening to your stupid laws, now what? Will the feds take the state back by force? I don't think so. There will be a long drawn out series of negotiations/legal battles that will take years...see Brexit.
However the end result will be the same. That state will eventually leave. That will be the new frontier for those who love freedom. Keep your debt low and be ready to head to that state when it happens. I really believe this will happen in my lifetime.

But states won't need to leave in that scenario for the country to fall apart. As you noted, more and more of the states and local governments are simply ignoring the law. If that is allowed to continue, chaos will be the result. At that point, whether Florida is part of the US or not won't matter as the overall system will begin to shut down.
I truly don't know where this will all end up. However, I do know we're headed in the wrong direction, and we're picking up speed.
