Well, was in a WM recently. Not intending to buy a TV. But saw a 32" in a pile of a few things marked "open box" with a white sheet taped to it. There it was priced marked down to $65. Hmmmm. I have a very small room that could use an upgrade tv. Bingo I bought it. Seems to work well.

So have a family member who wants to upgrade to a bigger tv. Walmart has a 65" Roku for $293 Eek
Also a 55" at $249

Update. Ended up getting the 58" Henisse Roku at Walmart for $249 Smile

Update: They want a 55" version. I know they are pretty lightweight. What is the Best way to mount. The wall has an outlet and was recently built so a good stud pattern is in the wall. Do not need the most expense of fancy set up. The easier the better. Thanks guys.

Any thoughts. Thanks guys.

bought one for elderly step-father. From Walmart.

only issue is he only wants to watch OTA TV (with an antenna), old school style.

But to get to an OTA channel, he has to power up the TV and then go into one of the "apps" or menu things (whatever you prefer to call it) to get to a TV channel.

His expectation (being elderly) is that he just turn on the TV and start watching, like TV's did for like 75 years.

Hate to say it but he rarely turns the TV on due to this inconvenience.

I tried.

We have a few at work, used in lieu of a projector & screen.
I think ours are TCLs & no complaints on them.

I have a 55" TCL on the wall in my office that we keep a network monitor running on.
Hasn't missed a beat, but is 99% used as a computer monitor, not a TV

There are various brands of ROKU TV. The ones I have are TCL ... purchased from WM. I have a 55" in the living room and a 41" in the bedroom.

The speakers on the 55 aren't that good. But I kill two birds with one stone by using my SONOS theater speaker system for TV sound. But mostly I use the SONOS to stream Internet radio virtually all day every day.

The 41 in the bedroom has better speakers and is sufficient for late night viewing before falling asleep.

Only problem I've had with TCL ROKU TVs involve the power settings. There is a "quick start" feature available in power settings and for a few years, that is what I used. The quick start means the TV display comes up quicker, rather than a TV reboot each time the TV is powered on.

After several years, a problem with that power configuration popped up on the 55. The TV would power on and there was sound, but the screen was black. No image at all !!! Turning on and off ... unplugging power for a few minutes ... and turning on and off did nothing to resolve the problem.

What I had to do was go to my 41 TV in the bedroom and note the remote keypad strokes required to drill down into settings and "Reboot" the TV. Then I went back to the 55 and "blindly" keyed the remote to reboot the 55. Problem corrected.

My guess is that there was some sort of TV operating system or firmware update that glitched the power settings. But from that point on, I have NEVER enabled "Quick Start" in the power settings. The TV's take a moment longer to boot up when powered on but the small amount of energy consumed to remain in Quick Start mode is no longer required Plus, don't risk another update causing a video glitch.

All that said and for now ... all I'd buy is a ROKU TV but there are other embedded streaming options. FIRE TV comes to mind, but I have no experience with it.

Roku is both a brand (or re-brand) of a TV, it is an app on some other brands of TV, and it is also a streaming device (both stick and device).

I have the Roku device - can stream shows from multiple platforms. I also have a TabloTV DVR for recording shows that runs through the Roku (it is network attached and has apps for various devices).

After reading the forum I got a TCL 50" for Mom some yrs back (That's the biggest that would fit in the TV bay) and the remote is a Roku remote. Been very happy w/ it.
I had to figure out how to set it up to start directly w/ the cable box and then she was fine and didn't have to mess w/ the start-up screen app.

I love them

TCL makes a good one

I like having the Roku OS built right in and everything is treated as a Roku app tile; all your streaming platforms but also things like DVD, Nintendo Switch etc all show as a tile so no having to fool with an input button on a remote.

We use YouTube TV so that also shows as a tile and therefore never have to go back and forth from a separate Roku device like a stick to a cable box input.

Yes the sound in the TCL's is crap but that is every TV now, just get a soundbar for $60-$100 and have great sound.

the one you saw at WM is probably the WM brand, made by onn, they make all the WM digital stuff

It has the ROKU interface, which is easy to run, it's not junk but it's not QLED either, which means it's $300 not $3000...

ORC, I bought a 55” and 32” for the camper very recently. The Rolu tvs are great because they have all the apps of any smart tv but also an offer cable channels. Or the option and capability to watch cable channels.

If you’re connected to internet they have the “Roku TV” channels, probably 100+ odd and end channels. But if I disconnected internet I was able to grab 25+ antenna based channels including CBS, NBC, Fox, and some other good choices.

So I was able to watch live sports. (I won’t mention the NFL) and some really good channels as well.

As I sit here in the rental house I can’t watch cable, only streaming. But I can go out to the camper, turn on the TV and watch games free

Bought a 40" Hisense for my Mom in the nursing home. She got 5 1/2 years out of it before we had to buy another one.

I don't call that good, but for a couple hundred bucks I am fine with that lifespan.

That’s actually pretty average for inexpensive flatscreen TVs these days

We have a 2019 TCL 65" 65R615 Class 6 Series LED 4K UHD Smart Roku TV in the entertainment room and a 2019 TCL 49” 49S515 4K UHD ROKU TV in the master bedroom. Both have been flawless. Went with TCL after an excellent experience with a non-smart 2010 vintage TCL L32HDF11TA LCD 32" 720p 60Hz set.

Check the settings - on some of these TVs you can make so it powers on into a specific input, by passing the menu, I'm not sure if can have it default into any of the other functions.

I have one (1) Roku-brand TV and Roku devices on my other three (3) TVs scattered around the house. I have been very satisfied with the devices; we have only had the Roku TV for about 6 months.

Does it have the 4 screw "VESA" mounting holes on the back?

Some Roku TV's do and some don't. If it has the VESA mounting holes then just buy any number of suitable brackets from AMZN and you are good to go.

hint, -- get one that extends outward so you have easy access to the cables in the back.

I have this for two of my wall mounted TVs, with one of them being a 55". Works great and is relatively cheap.
