Fastest I have ever driven is 196 MPH and that is freaking fast and was very brief.

Hennessey tried just before 99 opened. Modified Vette at near 200, still charged the toll tag Big Grin

My vMax was somewhere around 135-140, long ago & far from home.

Realisation of my chances of ownership of a C8 were slow in hitting me, until a couple of things happened.

1. I actually found one that I could sit in, and not just leave trails of drool on the showroom windows.

2. I got to get a drive - albeit as a passenger - on a major highway here in Eastern UK.

In the first instance, getting in was not a problem, aided by gravity, my skinny old butt just naturally slotted down into the [custom] sports seats in this particular car. Getting out, some time later, required some help, and by that, I mean a LOT of some help. X in the box, then.

After we hit the high road, things went to hell in a handcart with incredible rapidity. The ride was utterly appalling, as we carroomed from pavement joint to pavement joint. I swear that I could have identified what side up a sheet of matt/shiny typing paper was, if asked. Had the drivist set the suspension to 'track', nope, he resplone, given the condition of much of the UK's road infrastructure, he'd set it to 'comfort' and left it there. Well, folks, I can reveal to you that after ten minutes of getting my ass pummelled by this £130,000 car, I held my hands up and called for an RTB.

It made my AMG SLK, a car known to have suspension that moves not, nor gives any, feel like riding on a top-of-the-range Slumberland mattress.

Two days later I was admiring the bruises in the mirror when Mrs tac passed me by, noting, sotto voce, 'guess THAT's cured ya......'

Sadly, I'm cured, but it was sad to admit it. I still love it to bits.

That's the curse of making enough money to afford one in the latter part of our lives.

I have magnetic ride in my C8 and it's feels like you are floating compared to track mode. I usually drive in track mode unless the wife is with or on longer drives. I lowered mine another inch btw Big Grin

I’m sorry that your government and roads both are … substandard. The C8 is not.

Earlier this year I traded my 19 Z06 for a 24 Stingray. I do miss the brute torque that the Z had but truthfully the Stingray is likely as quick or quicker to 60 MPH due to traction limitations. The C8 is so much more refined as far as handling and comfort that I have no qualms about the trade. Funny thing, after getting the Stingray I read that it is actually faster on top end than the Z06 was due to all the aero package that increased the downforce on the Z.
