This stuff works great. You can get it from Home Deport too.
The ant mounds seem to pop up after a good rain and you'll find more (but not the same mounds) until you have done it a few times.

If you want to identify other places in the yard where colonies might exist, run your sprinklers for several minutes, a few days or nights in a row, as that will usually prompt them to build mounds.

We periodically get ants here in the house. Put out a little boric acid and the problem goes away.

Cheap, safe for everything but the ants.
