Anyone use Etsy?
Has anyone ordered from Etsy? Decent luck with products? Not a scam like Temu?

I've bought a few things through Etsy.

While it's still potentially possible to be scammed on Etsy (as with just about any online marketplace), it's very different from Temu/Wish/Aliexpress/etc.

It's not a Chinese marketplace rife with scammers and low quality mass produced crap. Instead, it's generally people making and selling handcrafted items from their homes.

I've used it a few times. No issues, but it's like eBay- seller dependent.

My daughter buys from Etsy quite a bit. As has already been mentioned its an arts & crafts/handcrafted version of ebay.

Have seen several knifemakers advertise their stuff listed on Etsy. Lot of Pakistani junk knives there though.

Sellers do have feedback on their sale page and can be viewed & sorted by most recent.

I picked an item at random, scrolled down the listing and found the seller feedback pretty quickly.

A few times. Custom made decals, keychains, and 3D printed parts, all from small independent sellers. No problems.

I e used it and continue too in spite of being scammed twice. Looking for gluten free baked goods for a Christmas gift for my mother last year I found pierogies. Lots and lots of positive reviews going back quite a ways. Communicated right up until the ship date then ghosted me. Checked her store and it was closed.

Fast fwd to this year I began my search again early for Christmas. Found another shop that made pierogies, asked if they made gluten free. They did not. A couple months later she messaged me saying they have them now. Close enough to Christmas I placed the order. Got burned again! Shop listed was in a different part of the country, had lots of reviews again but the shop shut down right at the shipping time just before Christmas.

Both times were orders over $200, if ordered some for myself also. Fortunately I opened a dispute with Etsy and both times they refunded my money.

I’ve had many good transactions though and soy has Mrs. BRL. I feel good knowing that Etsy backs up their site.

They may say handcrafted yada yada and it may be handmade in Pakistan,

I bought this knife: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1...edc?ref=yr_purchases

It was a seller named Knives Ranch out of Texas/ Nowhere did it mention it was not made in Texas. Got it in and there was no mention of Pakistan but the blade was really soft metal. The seller has a separate website and I went there snooping around. Under dealer agreement tab I discovered the true origin of the knives. I emailed him and he confirmed made in Pakistan.

Separate not Etsy website:

https://www.knivesranch.com/dealer-agreement

"The dealer agrees to represent Knives Ranch and fully understands that Knives Ranch knives are manufactured in Pakistan. Knives Ranch Inc. is an independent knife company, based and operating from Texas. Manufacturing facility in Pakistan operates under the sole discretion of Knives Ranch Inc. Knives Ranch does not procure any third-party merchandise. The dealer shall not misrepresent or miscommunicate Knives Ranch’s mode of operations or any such aspect associated with its identity."

My wife was scamed once by a Chinese seller & Etsy did not help. Found a good knife parts seller out of Australia.

Like anywhere else - every vendor is different. Check reviews, check number of sales.

My wife sells hand woven clothing that she makes in her studio (attached to our home). She has had 6,400 items sold over the past 10 years. Used to sell weaving equipment as well. Not so much of that anymore.

Do your homework. There are real people out there doing good work. Don’t paint them all with the broad brush.

I have been selling on Etsy for years and using Etsy also. I guess I have been lucky never really had any problems with either. I like Etsy for the variety of seeds and plants for my garden, lots of variety of stuff you just cannot find anywhere else.

I've made many purchases through Etsy. Only once did I have a bad experience. That was for a new bomber jacket that stressed fidelity to original detail. What I got was a generic waist-length jacket with the addition of epaulets. I posted a bad review, and the seller shut down. Probably registered again under a new name; such is the nature of e-commerce sites like that. I can't say the jacket sucked quality-wise, it just wasn't anything like what was advertised. It went to a coat drive, so somebody got a new item to keep them warm, and that made it OK for me.

The other deals went great, though. My favorite deal was I bought a pristine Eaton blanket in Canada, and from another Etsy seller contracted to have a capote made. The Canadian seller agreed to send the blanket to New Hampshire, saving me postage to ship from Texas to NH. I gave the CA seller a five-star rating in advance based upon pictures. The shop in NH confirmed the blanket was fantastic, and the capote arrived a month later with antler buttons bonus. Between that, and the fur ruff, there was a noteworthy amount of money involved, but it worked out perfectly.

But I've bought stuff from around the world, including a brass buckle from Ukraine about the time shit started getting sideways for them, and it still came through. I wouldn't worry about Etsy any more than ebay.

Interesting. I've never used them before.

Are there sellers on there that can do custom t-shirts?

Lots of T-shirt sellers, have bought several pre printed ones, I am sure there are custom ones.
