preten2bToyota A/C advise from brain trust
I'd like to ask the tribe if there is anyone familiar with Toyota Camry A/C repair?
Have a 2013 v6 which quick working the week after getting laid off.

It is not the charge, tried that, and the compressor will not kick on. Is there any chance there is a component other than a new compressor?

ShifferbrainsThere are several things that can cause the system not to work besides the compressor. First check the fuses.
Does the A/C light come on when you press the A/C button on the climate control panel? If so, is the light solid or flashing?
Are you absolutely sure there is plenty of refrigerant?

preten2bYes light comes on, solid.
Decent local guy charged it, w/die to check for leak and was advised compressor does not kick in.

PowerSurgeCheck that the low pressure switch works correctly and also the compressor relay.

Jaywendland1981Clutch coil open most likely. If you have a test light its an easy test.

If this, what does the fix run me at the shop? Any idea?

ScurvyMy guess is the clutch on the pulley.

Mars_AttacksCould be the clutch or low pressure switch.
Short the switch wire to bypass and see if that works.
To test the magnet in the clutch, you need to run a wire from the battery to the clutch wire.

Good luck finding just a clutch, no one sells them anymore. It would most likely be the whole compressor.

blueyeI was in the same boat with my GM car, the clutch froze up, but after more troubleshooting found out also the seals were leaking on the compressor so replaced the whole unit.

Dont go shorting out a pressure sensor connector without knowing how it works first. Most systems that new use a pressure transducer and not just a simple switch anymore.
