I guess the watch isn't really a thing. 27 years of Law enforcement. US immigration, Arizona Corrections and then 23 years as a police officer. Patrol, SRO, Detective.

On my way home I stopped for a soda. Ran into one of my middle school kids who I worked with 15 years earlier. She is now an adult and she came up to me and gave me a hug. She was with her father and he told me that when I arrested her, way back in the day, it saved her life. Not a bad way to go out.

Congratulations on making it through all that. The watch is secondary

That hug and recognition of a life changed is quite an accomplishment. Who know how many of those you have. Congratulations and you don't need a watch anymore. Wink

Sounds to me like that young lady gave you something much more valuable than a watch. Congratulations on a long and diverse career. You've earned this new chapter so go do something just as meaningful and enjoyable.

I take it you'll be logging some regular river time?

You don’t need the watch.

That hug was worth way more than any watch your department could give you.

At the end of the day, you know what you’ve done, and you made a difference somewhere. Made the world, or your small part of it a better place.

CONGRATS!!!
Enjoy your never ending vacation!
I wish you a long and peaceful retirement!!!!
