I have friends who live just outside of Marion, NC who felt it. It was a 5.1, apparently.

S E of Charlotte. Rolled through the house pretty good rumble compared to the tingle I've felt in Memphis.
I heard it then the walls and floor shook one after the other headed north.

They said it measured 5.1 so that's a pretty good shake. I heard people say it was felt here around High Point and Greensboro but I was out on the lake and did not notice anything.

That’s strange. You’re not that far from me.

We heard what sounded like a really big gust of wind hitting the roof. When I stood up to look out the window I saw that the trees were still (no wind). Then we heard what sounded like someone walking on the roof, followed by glasses in the cupboard clinking. Lasted maybe 30 seconds.

USGS says statistically there’s a 60% chance of an even larger one within 5 days.

I'm north of you, just south of RVA, and felt nothing,

but then again, at 8a yesterday, I was probably sprawled across the couch about half asleep

Apex NC...indeed so. My wife screamed. She used to live in CA and has been through a number including some bad ones (~1989 San Fran) and has had friends die in them. She knew exactly what it was and was terrified. It felt like a truck hit the house.

Yeah, my wife was in California during a 7.0+ earthquake in the 70s. She knew immediately what it was.

California guy here...

5.1 will rock you a bit. I've experienced probably several hundred quakes or more in my life.

We usually sit there and see if it's going to get worse or not. Then we guess the magnitude Wink

My first major local quake was when I was a freshman in High School. I recognized what it was and yelled DUCK AND COVER to the class. Everybody did exactly that. We were quite practiced at the drill back in those days.

I remember after that every time a big truck rolled by I thought it was a quake.
