Other than "away" can anyone recommend a good place to stay in the Inner Harbor area of Baltimore? G/F wants to go to aquarium and art museum there in September. Thanks in advance. _______________________________ The artist formerly known as AllenInWV

All of my recommendations are pre-covid. I worked at Aberdeen Proving Grounds for almost three years, and it seemed like I spent more time in Baltimore than I did on base or the apartment in Silver Springs. One place is the Hotel RL Baltimore It is housed in the historic 10-story Keyser Building, Hotel RL is located just steps from the Inner Harbor. A testament to our love of all things local, creative and good for the world, our hotel features bright and peaceful guestrooms, ethically so... (A great weight room, coffee bar, laundry etc..The only downside no fridge or microwave in the room) This place is on my bucket list. I am not sure what kind of atmosphere you are looking for but this is an awesome place. I am not sure what the dates of your trip are so the rates fluctuate. Kimpton Hotel Monaco Baltimore Inner Harbor: A grand 202-room boutique hotel and B&O American Brasserie resides in the historic B&O Railroad Headquarters. 24 hour fitness center, restaurants, and they provide bikes for the guests. A couple of blocks over from the Harbor is the Staybridge Suites located at 17 Commerce Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21202. When I travel I stay at either Homewood Suites, Candlewood or Staybridge. I like having a full kitchen so I can make breakfast and lunch then eat out for dinner.

I am not sure which art museum you are referring to. I have never been to the Baltimore Museum of Art but I have been to the Walters Art Museum.

I worked in Baltimore for many years and Mrs.BurtonRW and I are aquarium members. The aquarium is well worth the visit. Not sure which art museum you’re talking about, but The Walters is first class. Much better than the Baltimore Museum of Art IMO. The Visionary Art Museum is interesting if you’re in the mood for weird shit. As far as hotels in the city, you’re not going to be within walking distance of both the aquarium (inner harbor) and The Walters (Mt. Vernon), but regardless of where you locate yourselves, I would NOT go out after dark. Period. Not without experience. I’d take a look at the Renaissance Harborplace. The Pier 5 Hotel is about 100 yards from the aquarium, but overrated, I think. The Hilton Inner Harbor is over by Camden Yards and very nice. Let me know when you’re here and I’ll buy you a drink. Maybe even show you around the aquarium. Pretty sure I can get discount tickets. -Rob I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888 A=A

Thanks all! I was thinking the Hyatt Regency (we're not that fancy I guess....just hearing "Hyatt" sounds fancy. LOL). Burton, thank you for the invite, I'll let you know when we're coming. I do like aquariums. Not sure how the one in Covington, KY rates, but I liked the tunnels through the tanks. But unfortunately (for me, anyway) it is the Visionary Art Museum she wants to see as well. _______________________________ The artist formerly known as AllenInWV

The Baltimore aquarium is awesome, i take my kids there every year. We are local so I’ve never gotten a hotel, but we always eat at Phillips, great seafood.

My daughter graduated from Loyola . I am quite familiar with the Inner Harbor area. I would recommend the Marriott at Inner Harbor. It’s on the waterfront, walking distance to everything, across the street from little Italy. More upscale—> Four Seasons. Literally next door to the Marriott. More reasonable —-> Courtyard Marriott or Hilton Garden Inn. Same location, no views, budget friendly.

Wait, what? |
We used to have an annual membership at the Baltimore Aquarium and went several times a year; it really is that good. We let it lapse ever since the civil unrest began, mainly because our trips there ended after dark. I used to walk a couple of blocks to park even after dark then. I don't relish the thought of that now, even armed. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

Baltimore is really just a day trip (when I sat day, I mean before 6pm). Other than the Aquarium and a few cool boats. I rather nstay at National Harbor and drive to Baltimore just for the aquarium, it's under an hour away. Plus if you feel like it you can do some gambling. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis

We are about an hour from Baltimore and have a membership to the aquarium as well, it’s a great place to go. I can’t help you on the art museum front, but the B&O railroad museum is just on the other side of the stadiums, and is fantastic if you have any interest in trains or industry. Also not within walking distance, but an Uber ride away is Fort McHenry, which is also an interesting visit.
