I enjoy reading positive gun related articles, especially because the mainstream media ignores these events. The link does not have footage of the incident but there is an interview with the shop owner. I like this excerpt:

"That was just a very, very poor decision in a state like North Carolina, where everyone has guns."

He shot him four or five times': Shopper shoots, kills armed robbery suspect in NC

The suspect was shot by a customer in the store who had his own gun.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The terrifying armed robbery lasted less than a minute -- ending when a customer pulled out their own gun and shot the suspect four to five times.

According to the Greensboro Police Department, 18-year-old Malik Harris tried to rob at gunpoint the convenience store NC Tobacco on the morning of Feb. 29.

WFMY News 2 spoke exclusively with one of the owners of the family-owned business located on Summit Avenue.

"There were three or four customers in the store. And the guy came in and put the gun on all the customers, made everyone come [behind the counter] at gunpoint," said Adil Khawaja.

While the store employees and customers were huddled behind the register, another unsuspecting person walked into the store.

"He grabbed her by the neck, brought her back [behind the counter] at gunpoint," Khawaja said.

The situation took an unexpected turn when one of the customers took advantage of the distraction, pulling out their own gun and firing shots at the suspect.

"[The customer] shot him four or five times," said Khawaja. "It happened like in 45 seconds. Like 30 to 45 seconds."

Bullets ended up shattering glass and piercing the store wall. The suspect was the only person struck.

The 18-year-old was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries, according to Greensboro Police.

"I wish it could have ended up differently," said Khawaja. "Personally, I don't want to see an 18 year old kid die. He didn't even start his life yet. That was just a very, very poor decision in a state like North Carolina, where everyone has guns."

Greensboro Police says the investigation is ongoing.

Been in that area in the past many times.

"I wish it could have ended up differently," said Khawaja. "Personally, I don't want to see an 18 year old kid die. He didn't even start his life yet. That was just a very, very poor decision in a state like North Carolina, where everyone has guns."

He did however , end his life...yet.

I wish people would think before opening their yaps. It was a poor decision in any place....except for maybe SF, NYC, or Seattle.

Sounds like a perfect ending to me.

Of course, his mom will get on the news and tell everyone what a great kid the robber was.

If you could ask Malik, I bet you he'd agree he made a poor decision.

Displaying wanton violence and trying to herd everybody into a confined area is often a precursor to everybody in the store being shot. If he just stuck up the clerk and took the money and ran, I might not do anything, just observe and report. But this crosses the line. If I see that, I'm "going to guns."

Used to drive by that area frequently on my way home from the Triangle. If I recall, there's a gunshop or something not far from there.

I like the idea that he just started shooting. No "drop the gun" or any warning shots. Well, maybe except the shot or two that missed. In the heat of that situation, I have no idea how accurately I could shoot. Not sure of the distance, either. So back to the "go to guns". Shoot and keep shooting until the bad guy is room temperature. Or your gun goes dry.

I don't like the label "hero", but really what he did was preserve his own life. Gotta think the fool robber was also prepared to shoot. He just didn't get to, it wasn't his turn. When faced with the situation, you have no idea how well he can shoot. Or even how well you can under the stress. Here, the customer saw the situation going down hill. He grabbed the new comer and roughed her up a bit. It could escalate even more from there. So he did his best to throw a wall of lead, to which the robber didn't defend himself.

This should be the outcome of all armed robberies, kudos to the good guy with the gun.
