AUTiger89Center Channel Speaker On Cable Box
Is it okay to put a center channel speaker on top of a cable box?

radiomanSeems at first glance like it should be ok. BUt what are your concerns? Heat? changing acoustic quality? Some kind of magnetic field from the cable box??

smschulzWhy not?
What is your concern?
Just don't close off any ventilation but otherwise it should fine.

Any of the above, or magnets from the speaker damaging the drive in the cable box?

TVzombieIs this speaker designed to be a center channel? It may be magnetically shielded if it was intended for that purpose. Depending on the size of the speaker, I would be more concerned with trapped heat in the cable box and aesthetics.

It won't cover the ventilation holes on the cable box, so I'm not really worried about the heat affecting the cable box.

radiomanI forgot there would be a drive in the cable box...
Back in the day, some people worried that very loud, heavy bass would vibrate an HDD and cause problems. But I'm not sure if this is an old wives' tale or not. sounds Plausable. Smschulz might know better than I.
