Cherokee National Forest is burning…
6 miles south of me with a southerly breeze.

Best regards,

Tom

Just did a quick search and they are saying it's arson. WTF is wrong with people?

Sorry man, they had a firefighter arsonist in western NC a few years ago. Destroyed thousands of acres in Macon County.

Hope he’s found and caught quickly, before someone gets hurt

I live 2-3 hours from there and just did a 3 day road trip right through there 12 days ago. It is dry and most deciduous trees have shed their leaves.

In October… for us… a rain event historically occurs once a week or so, however we haven't had a measurable rain at my house in 42 days…

Endeavor to persevere.

If I recall almost 85% of wildfires are man caused

We had this in Gatlinburg several years back. We live a few miles from Cherokee Natl Forest and one of my gun ranges is in that forest. It’s so dry around the grass crunches when you step on it. We’ve been under fire advisories lately.

Was up in Western Carolina this weekend riding, they were talking about the fire on the news and that it threatened but had not destroyed any structures, that was Tuesday Morning.

Fire hazard threat was high, all the signs were marked as such, few leaves were still on the trees but most were down.

Beautiful area for riding.
