Quite a few "holdouts," as they were called, didn't. They were either out of communication and didn't know the war was over, or did get the word but didn't believe it. The last known one didn't surrender until 1974, and only then because his former CO was brought out of retirement and in person to order him. In fucking sane, and the kind of resistance we were expecting to face.

It made sense to Truman and all of those reasons are still valid.

The people bitching had no skin in the game either then or now.

But the fact still remains - unconditional surrender happened shortly after the second bomb went off.
