wishing we were congress |
quite a surprise to me https://townhall.com/tipsheet/...-senate-bid-n2635042 Maryland's former Republican Governor Larry Hogan — who some had thought might pursue a third-party bid for president of the United States in 2024 — is instead wisely putting his name on the ballot for U.S. Senate this November. Confirming the news on Friday — the deadline for candidates to file — Politico noted that Hogan's entry "is a huge recruiting coup for Republicans" in the race to replace retiring U.S. Senator Ben Cardin, a Democrat. "Today, Washington is completely broken," Hogan said in a video announcement posted to X on Friday. "You know me. For eight years, we proved that the toxic politics that divide our nation need not divide our state," the two-term governor reminded Maryland voters. "We overcame unprecedented challenges, cut taxes eight years in a row, balanced the budget, and created a record surplus. And we did it all by finding common ground for the common good." Saying that he's "completely fed up with politics as usual," Hogan said "politicians in Washington seem to be more interested in arguing than in actually getting anything done for the people they represent. Enough is enough." Highlighting his measured arguments and frequent bipartisan work to find common ground on which to build successful policy, Hogan quipped that he does not "come from the performative art school of politics" but "from the get to work and get things done school."

Lived in Maryland for 66 years, WV for the last 4. There is nothing that you can say good about Hogan except that he's not Ben Cardin. Worthless. If you look up Rhino in the dictionary, you'll find his picture. ____________________________ Everybody knows that the dice are loaded

He may be useless, but control of the Senate is worth a lot. "I vowed to myself to fight against evil more completely and more wholeheartedly than I ever did before. . . . That’s the only way to pay back part of that vast debt, to live up to and try to fulfill that tremendous obligation." I never liked Hogan when I lived up there. That being said he was the best governor we had in that time frame as well. Very low bar in Maryland, just look at Baltimore.

Larry the Wonder Slug? No. And not only is he a RINO of the highest order, but he is a stone cold LIAR to his constituents. Being forced to vote for Larry in hopes of securing control of the Senate is possibly less tasteful and more loathsome a burden than voting for Romney or McConnell for the same purpose. -Rob I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888 A=A
