Outstanding, thank you, really.

I had a long, pleasant conversation with SC today. He's a mensch. That's a fact.

OK, the fuses arrived.

We'll be there tomorrow morning.

If anyone is wondering, the truck seems to be fixed. We drove it around before we left.

It had a bunch of blown fuses.

It was just easier to remove the whole fuse block to make the repair than pry at it.

Good to hear.
The fuses did their job and protected the truck.
I did watch a video and the 140 amp fuse looked like pain. Nice of you to lend a hand.

The real kicker was the little 10amp for the throttle.
It's a drive by wire!

We got there a little after 10 and he had our workplace all ready for us.
And he helped where ever he could.

It was a really good morning.

Thats great news. Been waiting behind the scenes for the results of the repair.

Yes, of all things. Georgia is pretty big and I'm on the other side of it.
Fate just hadn't crossed our paths yet.

I was wondering the same thing. I'd assumed you all knew each other.

That is awesome. Electrical issues can be so difficult to track down. My question is after all the work was done, did you all feast??? Big Grin

No, but Para knows he is more than welcome to any of the Bird Brothers' BBQ and shoots.

I'd love for Me and Tabitha to take him and his wife up to Wolf Mountain Vineyards for brunch, my treat sometimes.

I'm surprised that the vehicle doesn't have a maxi-fuse that would sacrifice itself in the case of an inadvertent electric surge such as reversed connection on battery.

Good on Mars and company to get er done!

Yes, it's been a busy day running errands, now that I have wheels again.

The accessing of the main fuse was (to do it correctly and without breaking any parts) more complex than what is shown in the youtube video in this thread. Had I attempted it, I would have been compelled to stop before completing the task, so I am doubly grateful that SC and Mars kept at it and got it right.

Mars and SC, you'll be happy to know that the Check Engine light went off the first time I started my truck after you left, and the TPMS issue seems to have resolved itself as well.

And though it may make little or no sense, I swear that my Tacoma is a little peppier than it was before I made my series of mistakes with it.

Human nature being what it is, we take things for granted, and, as the saying goes, you don't know what you've got until its gone. In this case, I refer not only to my ability to move about freely, but also, I refer to the portion of my bank account which the robber barons at the repair shop would surely have demanded to fix these issues.

SC and Mars, thank you, most sincerely. My wife and I enjoyed visiting with you and being able to resolve these issues without a wrecker company and a soulless auto repair garage really made my day.

It's a funny thing to meet people face to face that you have known for more than twenty years. We appreciate the invitation and accept.

Next we'll shoot some paint on those weather aged panels.
I believe the color is 3P1 Impulse Pearl Red.

I don't know about your Tacoma, but the computers on my truck have some sort of adaptive learning that happens when a person first starts driving it. Disconnecting the battery for a period of time resets those computers and forces them to relearn what ever it is they learn. I seem to recall throttle position and response was one of the learned things.

Good on Mars and SC from helping you out and knowing how to do it. When the guy in the video started prying on the fuse block with a big screwdriver and cracked the housing, I knew that wasn't the right way to do that.

Clearly... A sledgehammer would be way more efficient when it comes to cracking fuse housings. Duh.
