Frenchy1004Dry bag? Am I thinking of the right product and couple questions
When I was younger and doing more outdoorsy things with Scouts I remember seeing the bags you could use to seal belongings up to keep them dry. Is dry bag the right terminology?
If so, could they also be used in the opposite manner like keeping wet things isolated from dry stuff until I get a chance to unpack them and hang it up? We have a road trip coming up and I foresee some wet swim clothes and shoes for the kids as we travel.
Lastly if this will do the trick, does anyone have brand recommendations?
As always thanks in advance.

old rugged crossOutdoor Reasearch is a good inexpensive option
There is another more expensive option. I am going to have to look at mine for the name.

comet24yes, it will do the trick but keep in mind anything wet left in there for more than a day can get smelly.
I have them for a few different brands and couldn't tell you what off the top of my head. Some are lightweight I like for hiking some are more durable I like to throw around a dive boat.
True waterproof bags will have a roll top and the usually plastic buckle.

OregonDry bag is the correct term. You probably are looking for the non-submersible type (no zippers. Usually has a folding/rolling type seal with a fasttech buckle).
Outdoor Research make good quality, fairly lightweight ones.
For wet bathing suits, I usually go with garbage bags. If you're worried about sack integrity, get "contractor" garbage bags.

ridgeratAnother thumbs-up for Sea to Summit dry bags. I use them primarily for hiking and backpacking.
I don't see any reason why you can't use on for what your needs are, but as mentioned before, I would empty the bag ASAP and perhaps turn it inside-out to air dry. The bags are made to keep moisture from going through the material, after all.

parabellumI bought this Sea to Summit dry bag a while bag but it looks like it's no longer available.
https://www.amazon.com/Sea-Sum...oulder/dp/B09HFD8HT5I bought it directly from Sea to Summit. They give you 10% off first order when signing up.
Fifteen bucks. I chose it specifically because it has a sling. Very practical.

casAlso be sure you're looking at/buying dry bags and not just stuff sacks. The differece will be obvious in the price, but don't buy one thinking you're just getting a great price.
That said, stuff sacks are very useful. I have many, but only one actually dry bag.

Chris42A good plastic trash bag is really all that is needed for wet stuff. You could even roll it up and put it with dry clothes in the dry bag to protect it from tearing.
I use mine on white water canoe trips and have never had a problem with wet clothes or a wet sleeping bag. Been doing an annual trip (30 miles) for about 30 years.

nhracecraft^^^This! Wet clothes bagged anytime it's hot get rank pretty damn fast! If I were set on the Dry Bag (It's not a bad idea), I'd bag them separately in the Dry Bag anyway, just to prevent the Dry Bag from getting rank!
