joe9792Sig P229C ?
Anyone familiar with the Sig P229C ? I picked one up years ago thinking it would be my carry choice.. But my eyesight changed.. iron sights no longer an option so into my safe it went.
Never thought of selling it until I saw a used one on Gunbroker the other day.. Asking $1,900
Why so much ? Any ideas ?

92fstechIt's basically a P229 with a P224 upper on it, IIRC. That's an obscene price.

Not exactly. It is a totally a P224 with a lengthened grip for standard P229 magazines.

They are kind of a unicorn.
As far as I remember they were only made in 9mm for about a year. The 40 was made for a longer period of time.
I remember the ad in the trade magazines when they first came out. It showed a p229 with the nose of the gun and the grip cut shorter with the cut off parts next to the gun.
At the time I did not think it was that big of a deal and before I had a chance to get one they discounted them. At the time I was working at my friends gun store and I don't think we ever ordered one for a customer or had them in stock.
When they do come up for sale they sell quick. It's a great gun but the size is not really much smaller than a P228 or non railed P229.
I own and carry one, before that I carried a standard p229.
Right after I got it I called Sig to find out about any spare part availability and was told they did not sell any parts for the gun and were keeping anything they had for themselves.

GenorogersI had one that I purchased new, never fired it, then sold it to someone on this forum I think. The fellow had so many failures that he sent it back to Sig. Sig said it couldn't be fixed and offered the guy a new M11-A1 or something else I can't recall. He took the M11 and never looked back.

wxlBought my 229C with 40 bbl for $750, the 357sig bbl was thrown in as a bonus. No issues.
Also a Equinox 40 NIB that I figured would have an issue before I bought it. Would not function on first mag, sent in on warranty for extractor swap. Also have a 357sig bbl for it. Have 2 SAS 9 mm 224s. And 12 and 15 rd mags.
