As the title states I would greatly appreciate a few recommendations for a good divorce attorney located in Hampton Roads Virginia. Thank you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance

You okay, my friend? - - - - - ETA: Bud, I hope your reason for asking is to help one of your peeps, and that you’re not the one needing the attorney. You know how to reach me, if you need an ear. This message has been edited. Last edited by: vthoky, God bless America.

Oh my, Stick. Living away from the area I have no recommendations but my thoughts are with you. No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

https://mensdivorce.com/ I’m not advocating for this legal firm, affiliated all over. I just put the link because they have a lot of advice spread around the site, including picking a legal office. I went through it 2 years ago, somewhat of an ordeal, but it’s much better on the other side. I was also left with very few options.

So sorry to hear this Stickman. Keep us posted on how you are doing. “Our actions may be impeded... But there can be no impeding our intentions or our dispositions. Because we can accommodate and adapt. The mind adapts and converts to its own purposes the obstacle to our acting. The impeding to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.” ― Marcus Aurelius

Thank you guys for caring. I really didn’t want to post details but now I realize my original post was way too vague. I apologize for that. A family member of mine just had their life unexpectedly implode on them. It is looking like they will need the services of a very good divorce attorney. Again, thank you guys and I’m sorry for how I worded my first post. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance

I'm glad it's not for you! I don't have a name for you... but Hampton Roads Virginia is the harbor, between Norfolk and Newport News? "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

Not an endorsement. Just something I hear on his radio program. handelonthelaw.com There might be something in there.

Yes. Hampton Roads is the name of a body of water that serves as a wide channel for the James, Nansemond, and Elizabeth rivers between Old Point Comfort and Sewell's Point near where the Chesapeake Bay flows into the Atlantic Ocean. It also is the name of the surrounding metropolitan region located in the southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina portions of the Tidewater Region. The following independent cities are part of Hampton Roads: - Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Newport News, Hampton, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Williamsburg, Poquoson and maybe a few others. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance

Being in the Hampton Roads (Navy) area, do you/they need a lawyer familiar with divorce and the military? If so, I would point you here. _________________________________________________________________________ “A man’s treatment of a dog is no indication of the man’s nature, but his treatment of a cat is. I realize it’s not you, for the relative. A fair bit comes down to the given specifics. Some biggies are length of marriage, w-2 differences, retirement plans. Any kids below 18 adds a fair bit of complexity. Then you get to the disposition of the two individuals, willingness to settle or mediate. My legal fees were under $6k, and that was with a good bit to be divided. I’ve seen others quickly go over $50k and years worth of litigation. I’m not saying to throw in the towel, plus it’s a two way street. One can do a little prep before someone files, after filing, hands are a somewhat tied.

Damn stickman you had me checking my bank balances for the motorcycle sell off! JK good it’s not you. My divorce went very smoothly, no lawyers, no mediators and was very amicable and it was still devastating.
