Well....my integrated video card is dying and I need to replace it. I’m hindered with certain requirements like only having a 200w power supply, needing to fit into a slim case, VGA output and I believe a 16 pin connector.

Model number is S5310F. I’m also not looking to spend a lot of money because it’s an older computer and I will eventually upgrade. Just looking for a bandaid for now.

Is the PCIE x16 slot filled (the top one of the 4 'slots' on the back of the PC)?
If not or if it's the GFX card, just search 'low profile graphics card' on your favorite shopping site. Amazon is probably going to be cheaper with shipping, but you might find a deal at newegg or if there is a microcenter/frys in your area.
$30-40 should be all you need to spend.

my integrated video card

Video has been built in to the CPU with Intel for a number of years now.
If you have a separate graphics card maybe you could just toggle it in your BIOS.
Not familiar with the S5000 but also if you have internal space there are plenty of cheap graphic cards out there.
YMMV

That slot is not filled. My current search is failing because of my power requirements. I’m stuck between 200-240.

Just buy a new one, PC's are dirt cheap now. Especially this time of year.

Personally, I'd seriously look at upgrading the PC. But if you're now up for that now, this card should suffice and is on sale right now for $35.

What do you use the graphics card for specifically? Also - what brand and model CPU is in that machine?

Oh I fully plan on upgrading. I just need a graphics card as a bandaid to get me to my next computer. Currently it has a nVidia GeForce 6150SE with an open PCI Express x16 slot.

S5310F Specs

I would spend as little as possible on that computer, 9 years is time for a refresh.

Look on ebay and search for "nvidia pci-e low profile" and there are a TON of used cards for 10 bucks that would work fine.

There are plenty of cheap pci cards that would work for under $50. You won’t be playing any games on them, but they will be fine for web browsing and email and such. The NVidia 710 based cards are cheap and the Radeon HD 5450 and 6450 stuff will work as well. In fact, if you haven’t found one yet, I think I have a spare sitting around at home. Shoot me an email if you are interested, although shipping might be a little slow this time of year!

Well, the saga has ended. I bought a "new" used video card. Everything went right. Computer was super slow. So slow that I would start a program and would come back to find it barely opening. I tried pressing control alt delete to see what was running and that's what was causing my screen to go black. Because my computer was running so slow, the blackout would take forever, leading me to believe that my card had died.

I restarted in safe mode and made sure no programs would be running on start. There was one. Webroot was set to scan my computer at startup. That's what was slowing my computer down. Once I got that sorted out, I then worked out if my video card was actually dead or what. A friend suggested while I was inside my computer, I should also clean and replace my old heat sync paste. Boy was he right, it was super dry. Eek

Turns out I spend $16 on a PCI-E video card that I didn't need and my computer is back running like a top.

Doesn't mean that I don't have plans to upgrade but now it's not a "have to do now" type of thing. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

Are you saying it wasn't the video card? Heat sync paste is a heat issue more than a speed issue (yes, cooler systems run faster than hot), from my amateur experience. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Throwing in a cheap video card relieves the processor of more calculations (better speed) than any heat relief (and maybe removes some heat from the processor).

Glad it's running better.

Looks like it wasn't the card going bad. You are right about the paste. It helped maybe a little but it couldn't hurt to replace it while I was in there. It only relieves the processor if it's not trying to work both cards at the same time.
