vthoky Virginia Supreme Court tosses Dem-backed redistricting map, upending expected 10–1 edgeGOP lawmakers argued the map was an 'unconstitutional power grab'
quote:
The Virginia Supreme Court on Friday invalidated a new, voter-approved redistricting map, delivering a significant victory for Republicans in the state ahead of the fast-approaching 2026 midterm elections.
"We hold that the legislative process employed to advance this proposal violated Article XII, Section 1 of the Constitution of Virginia," the Virginia Supreme Court said in the ruling. "This constitutional violation incurably taints the resulting referendum vote and nullifies its legal efficacy."

vthokyA follow-up article on
FoxNews:
Social media erupts after Democrats 'burned $64M' on failed Virginia gerrymander Nearly $40M came from a super PAC aligned with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries quote:
The Virginia Supreme Court’s ruling striking down Democrats' costly redistricting push sparked an uproar on social media over the massive sum the party spent to pass the now-defunct congressional map.
Virginians for Fair Elections, the main pro-redistricting group, raised north of $64 million in support of the Democratic-friendly gerrymander that could have netted the party four GOP-held seats in November’s midterm elections. Nearly $40 million of that came from an outside spending group aligned with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., who was heavily involved in the effort to redraw the state’s congressional map.
The pro-redistricting campaign outspent the opposition 10 to 1 on television ads, according to analysis from The Washington Post. But the legal challenge that Republicans helped bankroll to get the map thrown out proved more decisive.
"The funniest part about the court's ruling that Virginia’s map is unconstitutional garbage is that the Democrats burned $64M just to get it thrown out," conservative columnist Dustin Grage wrote on social media.
{snip}
Jeffries ripped the court’s ruling as an "undemocratic action" designed to disenfranchise voters.

Hey, Hakeem!
The hypocrisy in your statement is just fascinating.

vthokyMay 10 update:
Angry Left plots to purge Virginia's high court Quinn Yeargain's Substack proposal would set a mandatory retirement age below that of the youngest justice quote:
After the Virginia Supreme Court rejected the results of the recent Democratic effort to effectively wipe out Republican representation in the state, Democratic pundits and activists have latched onto a proposal by Michigan State law professor Quinn Yeargain to gut the court by forcing the retirement of the current justices, appointing liberal activists, and then reversing the opinion. It is extremely telling that some are pushing the raw muscle play to retake power in Washington, particularly in light of the calls to pack the United States Supreme Court once the party is back in control.
FoxNews link quote:
Notably, the gut-and-pack scheme sets aside any pretense of principle. The Democrats would simply adopt a ridiculously low retirement age for the sole purpose of populating the court with reliable and robotic justices. The fact that an academic and various pundits would expressly float such an idea is another chilling reminder of the growing radicalization on the left.

911BossIt’s the mentality of ANY THING is “justified” when you are fighting
EVILIt’s the end game for the constant “Nazi”, “Facist”, and “Dictator” wailing. Portray you opponent as evil instead of having different opinions or philosophy and any action becomes justifiable to the hive mind. Even creates would be assassins of people with a “I can be the savior” delusion.
Look at the reports in past year showing over 50% of the dems think violence is “Ok” to achieve political goals.
Freaking mental illness!

vthokyIt's all about control. The left wants it, and couldn't get hold of it this time. So they'll have tantrums, and pull the "cancel" business (that age 54 mandatory retirement thing sort of looks like age discrimination to me), and they'll spin the propaganda as hard as they can, all because they want to be able to control everyone else.
The hypocrisy is fascinating. The lack-of-self-control left (you know, those people who like to clog up streets and burn things down when they don't get their way) try really hard to control the rest of us (who mostly behave like reasonable, responsible people and just want to be left alone).

oddballThe modern Democrat Party has embraced extreme policy positions that counter the vast majority of America, made them part of their platform, and will not give them up. And they continue to lose, they continue to alienate the population, and they are bewildered by the fact that most citizens don't see things their way.
So the only solution to them is to change the rules, change the whole system to benefit them. Imagine a team back in the day playing Michael Jordan and the Bulls, getting beat and demoralized time again. So they try to change the rules of basketball- allowing them more players on court, more fouls allowed for them, a strict time limit on Jordan's play, etc. Democrats are immoral, corrupt grifters who don't care about anyone else except their party.
