So I finally bought one of those Sig M17 commemorative display boxes as I have one of the surplus pistols I want to display. I don’t want to just lay it flat on the shelf as it’s not really easy to see then until you get up to it, and I don’t want to mount it vertically—like a picture on the wall—because even though it has a latch on the bottom I don’t trust it to not open and spill out my pistol.
Question is then how do I go about displaying it on a shelf where I want it on an easel type set up so I can kind of put it at an angle? Kinda like how people display plates. I can’t seem to find anything that’s robust or deep enough to hold the display case, as it’s about 10” tall and 4” deep. It’s almost like I need a mini guitar stand or something.
Think I'd just cut a piece of 3/4" or 1" dowel at the correct angle you want (complementary angle on the other end of the dowel), and affix it to the back of your display case. Quick, simple, and easy.

The dowel might work but I don’t want to attach anything to the back of it. I may try that ukelele stand idea as I had looked them up prior though some are even too big for the shelf.
^^^^^^ Nice idea but the angle is too shallow. I would like to get about a 60° angle to 75° angle, just don’t want full 90° angle otherwise I would just hang it from the wall.
