Is anyone watching the launch of SpaceX Falcon Heavy?
So it's still orbiting the earth?
I thought it was supposed to be on the way to Mars.

It took three days to get from the Earth to the Moon during the Apollo missions. I'm sure the views of Earth will be around for a few weeks.

It's on the way towards Mars but will settle into a Heliocentric orbit.

Some pretty cool video, but the REAL treat with this one is the binaural audio immersion.

The same thing came to mind!

Pretty cool distant shot of the boosters coming back, and their sonic booms.

Looks like two synchronized lawn darts coming in before the burn. Big Grin

“…Musk shared a final photo on Wednesday of the Roadster that he launched into space, saying 'last pic of Starman in Roadster enroute [sic] to Mars orbit and then the Asteroid Belt.'

Now, many have begun to question what will happen to the Roadster and Starman as they drift further along on a 250-million-mile journey.

According to several scientists, the outlook is pretty grim - the Roadster will have to face tough conditions in outer space, namely thousands of micometeorites and dangerous cosmic radiation…”

Starman’s journey makes me think of Iggy Pop and “Punk Rocker”:

See me die on Bleecker Street
I'm bored with being god
See me sneering in my car
I'm driving to my star

I'm listening to the music with no fear
You can hear it too if you're sincere

Serious about crackers.

Before NASA figured out that you wanted / needed to suppress the sound of a large rocket launch, the test flight of Apollo 4 was conducted. Several of the buildings felt like they were about to fall down, per Walter Cronkite.

Maybe not the US government, but the US taxpayers have subsidized him to the tune of $4.9 Billion. You and I paid for this toy.

Tesla in space shots are absolutely fake - but what do you expect from a fraud.

Would someone like to explain how this roadster was deployed and why there was no video for that?

Anyone remember deployment of the Hubble telescope? Pretty involved...

Does it have retro rockets to execute it's maneuvers or are the camera angles just fortuitous?

And where are the cameras? Odd that there aren't any to be seen in the wide angle shots...

Where are the continents? Has global warming drowned them all?

Wouldn't the tires explode in a vacuum?

Why don't the shadows on the earth correspond with those on the Tesla?

Wasn't the (employee) cheering a little over the top during the launch sequence?

Who's benefiting from this? If the moon was discovered to be 99%, gold - would it make economic sense to send rockets into space to mine it?

'Private public partnership' my ass. Would someone like to explain to me what the financial incentive is for going to Mars? Or to the Moon?

Not saying it’s fake, but I can’t find any video of how the payload gets separated from the capsule.

The video just changes from booster separation to hero shots where Earth just happens to be perfectly framed over the driver’s head.

There was a shot of the fairings separating and then a few views with the typical "ice" and debris associated with orbital insertions.

Ha!!! If I had a deposit on a Model 3 - I would be more than a little pissy!

30+ years as a professional photographer has taught me not to trust what Photoshop can alter.

And I really don't like crony capitalists. Especially the green ones.

Go to T+ 11:30 (top right) in the video and you can see the fairings jettison.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sci...X-rocket-launch.html

In that article (ignore the UFO part), you can see the camera mountings.

Hate to break it to you, but the Earth is flat and the Sun revolves around us.
