MLB would you rather have a ring or a plaque?

400mMLB would you rather have a ring or a plaque?
I’m watching game 7 and texting with a friend who is a baseball nut also. He says he rather have a ring. I’d rather have a Hall of Fame plaque. How about you?
What do you think most players would choose?

229DAKI assume it's a gold ($$$) ring versus some metal/wood plaque that gathers dust on a wall? I don't see a hard choice here.

bertoHOF. There are plenty of guys with rings, even multiple rings, who won't get a sniff at the hall. I choose greatness and taking my chances with a team that gets it done.

LS1 GTOIf only one, i think the HoF plaque but daumn, what a choice.
Like asking who would rather have have most beautiful woman on the planet but is dumber than a box of rocks (think, can’t boil water, pass a driving test, etc) or an extremely smart, savvy, fiscally responsible woman who defines "butt ugly"?
And neither will leave you, ever. Lol

fischtown7Ring will end up on Pawnstars whereas the Plague will be in the hall of Fame. So I would take the Plague.

400mHOF with no ring?
Ernie Banks. But admittedly not many.

1s1kI would take the ring easily. You play all those years with the dream of being a world champion. An extra personal accolade wouldn’t do nearly as much form me considering that you are already one of the best in the world at what you do.

Johnny 3eaglesI'd take the ring. You can get in the HOF after you're dead.

I'd rather do what Al Kaline did, and have an entire battery type named for me.

bigwagonThere are a lot fewer HOFers than there are players who were on a World Series winning team.

ZSMICHAELThe ring so you can brag at the bar. Couple of years ago a Yankee scout was here looking for talent, and showing off the ring to everybody whether they were interested or not.

Mr.BrooksOther HOF with no ring: Dick Allen, Tony Oliva, Ralph Kiner, Roy Halladay, Phil Niekro, Adrian Beltre, Jim Bunning, Ichiro Suzuki, Carleton Fisk, Andre Dawson, Jim Rice. These are more modern players, I would need to research older players but Hack Wilson comes to mind.
There is one World series per year, usually there are a half dozen players into the HOF.

According to the BBHOF: a total of 351 people have been inducted,
including 278 former professional players, 40 executives/pioneers, 23 managers, and 10 umpires.
That seems pretty prestigious compared to the number of players with a WS ring.

ibandaI know you asked mlb, but maybe this relates. I don't think I'm a celebrity star struck person, but I've been at bars a time or two with former Dallas Cowboys with Superbowl rings. They were just sitting at the bar minding their own business, but the ring speaks across the room for them. I had to admit it was pretty cool.
