So my dad gave me an old hedge trimmer. The primer bulb had cracked, but it was able to run. I replaced the primer bulb and fuel lines, and was able to use it once last spring. This fall, with fresh gas, I got it to start once, but after it died, never able to get it running again. Have confirmed good spark with a spark tester. So I decided to give rebuilding the carb a try, which I did today. Seemed pretty simple, new gaskets, diaphragms, cleaned out the passageways with carb cleaner and put it back together. Primed fine, followed directions for the H/L needles (screw all the way in, then back both out two turns), and did get it to fire and run a couple times, though only while holding the throttle open. I was trying to let it warm up before I started the adjustment procedures, but after it dies the second time when I tried to let the throttle slowly off to idle, I have been unable to get it to re-fire. Bunch of pulls, it appeared to be flooded (very wet spark plug), so I let it dry out and just tried again, still nothing. Any ideas to help? | ||
