Picked up a new Tacoma TRD Off-Road last night. It is replacing a Jeep Wrangler and is my first pickup truck. I went with the manual transmission. Liking it a lot so far.

Looks good! I had the same truck for three weeks before a lady totaled it by making an illegal left into me. I hope you keep yours a little longer than I did.

Did you swap out the grill or did it come like that?

Nice pick up, been a long time since, I have had a manual transmission it’s not even an option on most cars.

A good "suggestion". TW is full of helpful people who share your (our!) love of Toyota trucks. I'm on my second (they last a long time), a '96 Taco. Check out that site.

I had a 2005 4 cyl 5 speed manual that I loved, but traded it in for a F150 so I could tow a 5500 lb RV. Loved everything about the truck except for the 1 -2 shift - it was rough unless you let the engine spin down to idle before shifting, which took about a second or two. The other upshifts were normal. Probably not the transmissions' fault, but the anti emission gear keeping the engine RPM's up. Does that still happen with the newer (and most likely 6 speed) manual?

That’s terrible that your truck was totaled. I swapped out the grill and installed the black emblems as soon as I got it home. Had to wait a few weeks for it to come in, so had time to order parts.

Thought about that with mine when I got it a few months ago. Decided to leave the emblems (and all the other chrome stuff) off and put them in a box instead.

Nice! You should drive it in good health (as my departed grandmother would have said).

Nice. I have had mine since 2007. It has 180k on it and still drives as good as the day I drove it off the lot.

Nice truck. I like that color. Not too dark, not too light.

Nice rig! Love the color. Did your dealer add those tires ?

My Tacoma is a 17 inferno orange, off road 6 speed manual. Tacoma world is about as bad as Sig forum for suggestions of places to spend money.

When the factory Goodyear tires wear out I’ve decided to go with BFG 255/85 skinnies and toytec progressive lift. I’ve also added BAMF sliders and mobtown off road steel tail gate skin and cap.

The black emblems and pro grille look tight. I might do that. Did you Buy the OEM grill or the eBay one ?

One thing that drives me nuts about the 17 is the little tabs on the floor of the passenger side to lock down the Husky floor mats. Toyota cheaped out and didn’t install them but put them in on 18s forward. My floor mats get pushed forward anytime somebody rides shotgun. Highly recommend husky mats.

I also bought an accessory rail for below the rear window same as the sides of the bed. They didn’t include that either. It was less than 100 for a rail and 2 cleats. The screws are there just no rail. Come win handy for when I throw a cargo net over it when camping gear or other stuff is in the bed.

How much extra did you have to pay for manual transmission. I looked on the Toyota page a few weeks ago and manual transmission was not even mentioned.

Thanks everyone! The color is called Cavalry Blue. To answer some questions, it is an OEM PRO grille, the tires were a factory upgrade option, and I have already joined Tacoma World :-). As for the manual transmission, it wasn't extra, but I think it does limit you to the short bed. I believe the Tacoma and maybe a couple of their sportier cars are the only ones Toyota still offers with a manual. Better than a lot of companies actually these days.
