Had debated about posting this, but can't really see why not...

Still need to take a (lousy) photo of the little knife and the pistols (my wife is always telling me how bad a photographer i am) Wink

Well, must admit, it was my wife who took the above photo Wink

Here's an attempt at a photo of the things my aunt brought of my great grandfather's...

The little folder knife is interesting. The smaller blade cannot be deployed without first opening the larger blade. Also, there's a sharp point on the edge of the scale, right where one would put their index finger, requiring one to be quite careful. At first, thought it was damage, but it doesn't seem to be; rather an original "feature."

The pistols are badly neglected and not sure what to do, perhaps start by identifying them... the derringer is seized as is the revolver. They're obviously a little old. Have no intention to fire them, they're keepsakes. Leave the patina or see about fixing them up? They've spent decades sitting in a drawer somewhere.

My deepest condolences on the loss of your mother and for the lengthy wait to make it all final. You’re a good son.

Thank you for the kind words.

Tried to take care of things in a way that would make her happy.

My parents really never went anywhere. We had about five or so family trips, growing up. They were from the generation of folks growing up during the war; they didn't complain about things and never splurged on themselves. They did take a couple of trips to Maine, after they finally retired.

Had the wherewithal to try to do something special and memorable, hoping she would enjoy it Smile
