Elk HunterFinally Buried my Mom...
Sorry for your loss. She sounds like an exceptional person. She is now at rest and watching over you from where she is now. You will meet her again.
My father in law died many years ago now, but we know he is still around and watching. He appeared on 4 different occasions after his death to serve members of his family. Once to his wife, once to his son, and twice to our daughter who was lying in critical care after a car accident. Daughter would not be here without his help.

Rey HRHSo sorry for the loss and the extra complications of Covid. I'm impressed by your perseverance to see things through.
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

selogicFirst of all , my condolences . My Mom passed from Covid related Pneumonia last November . The Funeral was pretty typical except that there was no wake allowed unless we wanted to do it outdoors at the grave site . No thanks . Things have normalized now and wakes are allowed again .

ersatzknarfThank you folks.
My condolences, selogic. So sorry you lost your mother to complications from covid.
My mother passed from heart failure and not the covid. She was stuck alone in her room since February, but at least the state didn't put covid positive patients in her assisted living facility.
Unfortunately, she lost her eyesight during all this and it wasn't clear to us, as we could not get close to her, although we had our suspicions which we expressed to the hospice care team. Obviously, nothing could be done, but it was heartbreaking that she was trapped alone like that.
Miss her sharp as a dagger wit...

PalI remember when your Mom passed. I am glad you have been able to finally have the service. It sounds like it went well. We lost my Uncle during the same time period. He had lived in South Rockwood since 1966 but spent the last couple of years living with family in Wyandotte. He named me as executor of his estate, something I was very honored to do for him. I am glad you were able to bury your Mom in a place she wanted to be. My Uncle was laid to rest at the Military cemetary near Holly. Your post has made me think about posting about my Uncle. Thanks
Jim

ersatzknarfJim,
Very sorry about your uncle. Thank you for remembering about my mom. Please do write about your uncle. That would be appreciated.
Thanks, irreverent. It was a long road, taking care of everything, and also as power of attorney... still a few things to tidy up, but it was a weight lifted to finally be able to close this part.
Billy, thank you.

flashguyMy very sincere condolences. I lost my father in 1984, my baby sister in 2000, and my mom in 2002--she was 88.
Loss of close family members is always very stressing, and your need to delay the service must have been evern more so. I'm glad it went well and your mom is at last at peace. I pray that God's peace will envelope you and the family.

bald1Frank,
Condolences.
We're going through a rough time here with our 95 yo stepdad having been moved to a hospice Monday from the hospital. This all came on suddenly... pneumonia, afib, failed swallow testing, delirium, nose feeding tube, doctors' decision not to move the feeding tube to stomach and install a micro pacemaker due to health concerns (survivability) for such procedures, body rejecting the nasal feeding tube prompting removal.... Our 95 yo mother is a wreck understandably.
He's yet another WWII "Greatest Generation" Vet (Navy - Pacific theater) about to be lost.
And no, I didn't want to start a new thread about this.... But prayers are appreciated.
