Going to be a rainy, messy race today. I doubt any records will be broken, and hope all the racers stay safe.

My brother in law has been a part of that in years past. Don't know if he still is, but its raining buckets down here. I'm sure it'll turn to snow somewhere on the way up.

I’m still quite pissed at the race organizers for being punk bitches and banning motorcycles. Hopefully no one crashes today and dies or they will have to ban the cars too.

The record speed is over 90mph for a car! That is an insane speed.
We drove the road last year and there are VERY few guardrails.

I owe a large part of my career to that race. Was heavily involved for a few years. Second oldest race in America.

I remember those Bultaco mass starts in the 70s. almost always a stretcher involved.

My wife’s uncle, Nick Robinson was there again this year running an Acura NSX (he’s an engineer with the Acura division in Ohio):
Doesn't look like a good day to break the 10 minute mark.

For me the highlight of the day was an 82 year old driver who first ran this mountain in '66 (or was it '65?).

I saw that white car, and said to my wife, "look at that, an Acura NSX." Don't see many of those. Very cool that it was your wifes uncle.
I too am disappointed they pulled the motorcycles. Maybe one day they'll let them back.
Even though it was a cloudy and rainy day, seemed to be only about 3-4 that DNF, and most of those were tire or engine related. All in all, no one got hurt or killed and seemed like a good event.
One of these days, I am going to make it there to watch, or if lucky (and I win a race car), race up that peak. One of these days.......

Looks like Nick took 3rd in class, times were slower the weather played a big factor, fogged in at the bottom and top, slick roads.. Good writeup on autoblog.com
Ride along with Levi Shirley in the Ultra 4, who flips his vehicle at 2:40 on the lower part of the course it lands on all 4 wheels and he drives it right back on the course and finishes...
