I turned 49 a few days ago. Missed your post last night, but I DID have a couple of wee drams of Yellow Spot 12yo single pot still Irish. Delicious. Quick aside: whisk(e)y folks: if you've not tried the new wave of single pot still Irish whiskies currently available, you're missing out. The Spot whiskies, Redbreast's offerings, Teeling single pot still, Powers, all are excellent. _________________________ "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. Yeah, that M14 video guy... |
My normal fallback spirits are 1792, Knob Creek 100 proof, 120 proof, Maple and Bulleit Bourbon. Once in a while I spring for the Glenmorange 12 year, but I saw the 14 year bottle last night and went for it. I'm glad I did. Cheers, my friends! I just finished my taxes, so I'm definitely down for another shot tonight! Tony. Owner, TonyBen, LLC, Type-07 FFL www.tonybenm14.com (Site under construction). e-mail: tonyben@tonybenm14.com

I actually enjoy a blended Scotch whiskey - Johnny Walker Red if fine by me if I'm drinking Scotch. I recently opened up a bottle of Chivas Regal that is about 35 years old. I can't believe how good it is. It just seems more intense than I'm used to - almost like it was concentrated. Cheers!

I normally don’t drink Scotch, in fact don’t like it or bourbon. But I thought I would give a try to finding something I might like. So I bought a bottle of Bunnahabhein 12, after searching for good non-peaty Scotches. It’s…OK. The bottle will probably last me years. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

It’s Speyside so not a lot of peat. Aged in sherry cask so there is quite bit of flavor, fruity with a bit of bite. I think at the price point of $200, it is the best value. I paid a lot more for Glenfiddich Winter Storm, and I think they are about equal.

Didn't have any Scotch to drink but did have a few shots of Wild Turkey 101. "But, as luck would have it, he stood up. He caught that chunk of lead."
