Anyone watching? Watched Team USA defeat team Great Britain last night and I have a question about that. What is the point of having a “Team Great Britain” when none of the actual players come from there? They’re all from the Bahamas or their father was born in England or something. Just seems a bit hokey to me. | ||

Italy was the same way with Men's Ice Hockey in the Olympics. They couldn't get enough players so they recruited from outside Italy. (it would look bad for the host country to not have a Team on the ice) When I think of baseball England is the last thing that comes to mind for me. | |||

It just seems silly to me. Why have teams from countries where baseball is traditionally not even a thing? South America, Asia for sure? But Britain? Do they even know about this? | |||

I’m kind of bummed that I have crashed early the last two nights. I did wake up to see the last 2 brutal innings against Brazil. Last night I just couldn’t stay awake. I hear I missed a heck of a pitchers game. I woke this morning to see a clip of Manny Machado working his magic down the third base line. I really want to not like him for his past antics but damn his defense showcases talent and dedication that is incredible. | |||

Great game of stomping GB by the U.S. the other night. Watching stuff about the Italian team. Espresso maker in the dugout. This is definitely something I can get behind w/ our majors!!!! Some of the Italian team players sure sounded like Americans. Minor league players? | |||

Many of the team players are Americans, as few countries outside of the Caribbean, Japan/Korea, and North America play baseball. So they try to find people who might have an Italian dad or something to fill out the roster. | |||

What a joke, and the clueless bumbling manager didn't know we weren't safe before playing last night: Team USA manager Mark DeRosa is coming under fire for saying the Americans already had their quarterfinal spot in the World Baseball Classic secured and then managing like so Tuesday night against Team Italy — only for that not to be the case. Instead, the Americans very much do not have a spot in the final eight secured and their shocking 8-6 loss Tuesday now means they can be eliminated from the tournament Wednesday due to tiebreakers. | |||

Pathetic. I really like DeRosa but, his poor situational awareness is alarming. Given Italy's competitiveness within the division, this may cost the team when they look at tie-breakers for advancing. “I misspoke,” he said. “I was on ‘Hot Stove’ with a couple of buddies today and completely misread the calculations. No, you failed to do any homework, failed to take the opposition seriously and 'cadillac'd your way through the schedule. There was no mis-speaking. Should've had Bochy as USA's manager. | |||
